Ross Barkley

Afternoon,

Wednesday fan here, Ross Barkley is a cracking player, far far better than the Make A Wish foundation winner across Stanley Park, he has an eye for a pass and shows excellent close control, sometimes the game does pass him by but he's only 18 and that side of his game will develop with experience, i'm hoping we can keep him all season as i think it will be beneficial to both us and you as he'll grow as a player and come back to you lot a better prospect than if he just warms the bench or plays reserve team football.

Out of the two clubs I've always preferred Everton and miss my trips to Goodison, all the best.

cheers mate, he started for us last season and was brilliant for one so young, made one mistake and has barely touched the first team bench since - not the right way to go imo, because when you look at rooney, he use to get stupid reds often in his early career he then learned to overcome this by playing regular first team football in big games and went like a whole season without a yellow. I hope he'll be starting for us at the start of next season, he does excite me fair play.

Thanks for the feedback (y) How's his defensive part of his game coming? Is his work rate improving or is that part of his game less of a concern while you concentrate on his attacking qualities?

I think the general consensus is he's excellent going forward, but he's been loaned to party aid his confidence but also for him to work on other aspects of his game that he's lacking in i.e. tracking back etc

Would be good to get your views on this

He's improving game after game, he was nowhere near match fit when he signed and struggled to make an impact but slowly he's got more and more used to the level of football and at times stands head and shoulders above anyone else on the park, his defensive side needs a lot of work on but with experience that will improve. There is a little match highlights video on our OS, just before our third he does two outrageous bits of skill that were worth the trip to Ipswich alone.

Do you have to sign up to watch the video mate

Yeah sadly i think it's a Football League thing, sorry, if I work out a way of ripping it to GIF i'll post it on here.

That's excellent, thanks for the feedback. Appreciate it.

Looks like it's a good move for both clubs then, and hopefully he can spearhead you moving up that table and away from relegation.

I've got to say, by and large he seems very impressive there - even though I watched that game and he wasn't as good as that video makes out over the 90 minutes of course! Even a slide tackle on 1:30.

The most exciting thing about him is the confidence and vision to play a massive variety of passes. Most players at his age play the obvious - Rodwell is still doing it now.

He's going to be a remarkable player as he matures. We shouldn't stifle his offensive game as that's the area where he's going to be a world beater.

I'm also glad to see the loan to Wednesday paying off now. Very happy to be wrong about it, but I still cross my fingers he comes back safe and sound and brimming with confidence. He seems to be relishing being a focal point of that team.

Been said enough times on here but looking at this lad he really does look like with the right attitude and that bit of luck to keep clear of injuries that all young lads needs, he is going to be something special. Glad to see him getting game time at Wednesday, hope he helps get them up the table.
