The reason that he hasn't played very much is the exact same reason that Germany don't throw their obviously very highly talented youngsters go straight into their first team, they develop them properly and then put them in. Players need to develop properly first.

I mean the national team, Ozil didn't play until he was 20, Gotze was different, Schürrle was 20, Reus was 21, Schweinsteiger was 20, Klose was 22, Muller was 21

I think it's a similar thing thats going on with Ross, sure introduce him early but allow him to develop properly

Whatever people say (mostly born out of so badly wanting him to be amazing) the last time he got an extended run in our team, he CLEARLY wasn't ready. The odd nice bit of skill, but made simple mistakes and wrong decisions way too often.

Hopefully this time when he comes in, he'll have matured in his game, and will be ready for the Prem.

The worst thing about Rooney coming through our youth system is that now a portion of our fanbase expect every new youngster to be Rooney MkII, and it's just INCREDIBLY unlikely to happen. I don't mean about ending up at that level, i mean the level Rooney started out at.

For a player to be able to run and control games at 16/17/18/19 is just unbelievably rare. Ross wasn't that player at those ages. Hopefully now when he plays he'll be closer.

That's a pretty grand statement to make. Do you know anything about him? He's a 19yr old kid from a working class background. Getting pissed the odd time doesn't make him the world's worst. Give him a break eh?

....points are vital and the kid would be a real gamble imo. I've watched him a lot and even at youth level he doesn't influence or have a consistent input. Can't see how anybody can compare him to Rooney or Gerrard after watching him to this point. Hope I'm wrong but I'm not seeing what some folk on here are!!
