Ross Barkley

I'd like to see more of young Barkley too, but then I'd also like to see more of our other youngsters. What about the likes of Garbutt? I mean, he's been with us for 3 years and he's as far away from the 1st team as ever. How many of these youngsters that are on our books eventually make it through ? It has to be said that the record here is extremely poor. Most academy players are let go early, and even the ones who do make the full squad struggle to establish themselves and eventually move on.

The job of the youth team is so important to our club because of our limited finances, but it hasn't really delivered in recent years.

One has Leighton Baines keeping him out of the first team; the other has Thomas Hitzlsperger.

Bit of a difference like ^^

From Moyes

"We have to remember Ross is a young boy and we’re bringing him on. He missed a bit of *football but I will continue to edge him nearer to our first team,â€￾ he explained.

“The boy is going to be a very good player, and I have always thought he will play for England, but we must be wary.â€￾

So there you have it. We have to be "wary".

Starting game tomorrow

His fan club should certainly be encouraged by those comments.

Doesn't sound like Moyes just doesn't like him as some have been claiming.

I really don't know where the newspaper article got that he's starting. Don't think it's clear that he is, in fact I don't think he will. I hope so, but I doubt it.

Might be something to do with the fact we've got the best left back in England (and in my opinion possibly the world) ahead of him.

Garbutt's done well out on loans, but at considerably lower level than Barkley (Cheltenham - Sheff Wed). He's looked good in the U21s but now has had two injury-setbacks I think. Hopefully back soon, looked decent the few chances he's had and will provide cover for Baines for years ahead.

Moyes sees Ross in training everyday so probably has a better idea than most of us here. Having said that, I'll be very surprised if he's fit for tonight and doesn't get a start.

I don't think he will start. In fact I don't think any youngsters will start after what happened at Leeds. As long as the game is put to bed early then I think he may get a good half hour or so coming off the bench for ossie.

Probably wise too. It will all be battling and commitment first half anyway.

If he puts his ketchup in the fridge sell the [Poor language removed] right now.

The Heinz web site said:
Q: Do I need to refrigerate Ketchup?
A: Because of its natural acidity, Heinz® Ketchup is shelf-stable. However, its stability after opening can be affected by storage conditions. We recommend that this product, like any processed food, be refrigerated after opening. Refrigeration will maintain the best product quality after opening.

It's clear he (Moyes) sees Barkley as a CM, that's where he played at Sheff Wed, England youth career, Reserves etc etc etc
Just cos' he's a CAM on Fifa doesn't mean it's actually true like.

Yeah but the Osman mold of CM rather than the Hitzl.

We play with a sitter and a runner behind the attacking midfielder and the striker. Hitzl is in the Gibson, Neville, Junior mode of sitting deep. Barkely will be in the Osman, Arteta, Fellaini mode of running on.

On Sky Sports this morning, nothing we don't know I guess

David Moyes has tipped Ross Barkley to follow Wayne Rooney into the England team ahead of throwing the teenager into Everton's potential FA Cup banana skin at Cheltenham.

The 19-year-old midfielder is set to start Monday night's third round tie, where Everton will aim to avoid a giant-killing, and it will be a chance for him to prove his ability.

But Moyes has no doubts about Barkley's skill and thinks it is only a matter of time before the youngster replicates the rise to stardom of former Everton sensation Rooney.
"We have to remember Ross is a young boy and we're bringing him on," said Moyes in the Daily Mirror.

"He missed a bit of football but I will continue to edge him nearer to our first team.
