Evertonia - how do you explain the 19 year old Sterling playing for England while the young Barkley was not regarded as good enough for 10 minutes against a 4th league Cheltanham with a 4-1 lead ?

It was only the summer when Sterling wasn't good enough to get in the England side at the world cup for his own age group and Barkley was running the show.

Liverpool's desperation doesn't make Sterling ready, neither he or Suso would get a look in with our team, which says more about the ****e than them.

Barkley will be a top player, of that I have no doubt. I do think Moyes doesn't get the best out of his young players though. If Barkley was at UTD he'd have 40 appearances next to his name IMO yet he's not good enough for us??

I agree with this.

I do think that Vic has only reached the level he has because Moyes has given him a lot of time on the pitch, though. And it does seem odd that he is incapable of finding the same time for Vellios (who has looked good whenever called upon).

Like as much as I like Vic there's a part of me that wonders if Vellios wouldn't have done just as well if he'd been given as many matches this season as Anichebe has.

We'll never know of course, we can only trusat that Moyes know his players better then we do but well Moyes also played Saha. McFadden and Cahill over Vellios last year when the bunch of them were basically ready for retirement.

Players learn best from experience. A lot of managers have the mentality that a point is neither here nor there in the Premier League and there's more to be gained by going for all three points and risking losing one. If Moyes was that type of manager he could throw Barkley, Gueye and Vellios on in the latter stages of tight matches to see if their youth, energy and not yet fully-formed style of play could make something happen for us. Unfortunately, Davey is relatively happy with a point. His cautiousness does have it's merits but I don't think that youth development is one of them.

Barkley obviously good enough to play regular 2nd division football for Leeds but clearly not good enough for Mr Moyes to play 10 min against 4th div opposition - does not make sense to me - i just beleive he and Velios have not been given enough opportunities to prove to us the fans whether they are up to PL football or not while some other players ( like Naismith and Neville )have proven over and over that they do not make the grade or that they do not make the grade any more - for me Velios and Barkley will remain unknown quantities waiting to be discovered by someone - who knows because the proof of the pudding is in the eating .......

Why should they have to prove anything to the fans ?

Yes he would sterling is a quality young player. Don't let your blue tinted glasses and hate for the red ****e cloud your judgement of a good player. Sterling is a good player and I would take him in a heartbeat. If he was a Blue we would love him.

I'm not so sure, just pace. And from what my non deluded red mates have told me he isnt all that and he is extremely overhyped.

I am glad we can get Barkley on loan to a big club in the championship. It will do him worlds of good. I wish we could give the same opportunities to players like Duffy and Vellios but if we get one or two injuries in their positions then we need them to fill in.
