It was his performances at the age 17 that showed he has massive potential. Far better than Rodwell was at 17. He has better potential than Rodwell ever did. Anyone with half a footballing brain can see he can go all the way if he makes the right choices and is guided. Hes still only 19.
Rodwell had tremendous potential at 17. I'd barely seen a youngster come in and look so completely composed, and athletic. His problem is he just hasnt improved as a player since. Barkley needs a long period on loan where he can get some consistency. There is nothing to suggest he should be playing for a top 6 Prem team or even close to it just yet.

Pleased for the lad, must be very frustrating for the lad not knowing whether he is coming or going.
I don't think he's commented much to be honest. He might be happy getting experience and be well treated and looked after by Everton when he returns. Maybe too much expectation on the fans part. He probably reads GOT and thinks wtf? lol
You might be right. I'm just thinking in terms of him being a young lad, and him wanting to play games. Going on loan to Leeds, not getting games, and then being sent back to Everton - effectively told by Warnock that he's not good enough to start in a Championship side - must have been a knock to his confidence. It would be a fairly normal reaction, most people would be a bit put out by it, especially if there's a section of people all the time making out you're the next Rooney.

I still think he'll come good, and if the doom and gloom merchants had their way Baines would have been sold a long time ago......
...........208 pages. Unbelievable for somebody who hasn't shown anything, not even a cameo instance in a 1st team shirt.
