Ross Barkley

........of course folk are allowed to discuss, but I think the hype over this lad is too much and a bit of proportionality is called for. The game is all about opinions and I've seen a fair bit of Barklay. Whilst he shows real talent, he's never involved enough to influence a game, even at youth level. Its understandable that fans are desparate to see the next big thing coming through, but my own opinion is that it wont be this boy.

Hi Phil, how's things?

certainly wont be with moyes in charge.

Sid Benson told everybody that this lad would be the next £30 million player to come out of our youth system. Now either he is loosing it as a scout and is incompetent of judging ability or there is something holding this lad back. It could possibly be a confidence thing and he has had every bit of that broken by the manager and some fans.

2 years ago he played against Villareal in a friendly and QPR in the PL. he looked years beyond his age. He hasn't been given a single start this season not even in the League cup. Absolutely ridiculous. I some what agree that when I've seen him come on against Orient and maybe Chelsea he didn't the look the same confident player of 2 years ago. But the games I ssaw of him against stoke, for us, he looked again years beyond his age. He needs games but unfortunately this season is an important one for us and he's never been in Moyes plans from the get go.

Fans? Don't know where that comes from.

Sid Benson isn't the only one to rate Barkley. EVERYONE to do with the young England set up waxes lyrically about him. I seem to recall the departed Capello saying he was a brilliant player already (almost 2 years ago!) and was the future of the England midfield. But then with England, he's given the key role in the midfield and has licence to go forward and, yes, take a few risks with his dribbling and passing -- things which are anethema to Moyes. Last time I saw him come on for Everton at GP I was quite depressed at seeing how our 'coaches' had taken all the spark and initiative out of him. It was like watching Jack Rodwell Mk II -- I don't think he passed the ball forward once.

Its always the same. If something goes right at Everton, Moyes is a genius. If something is glaringly wrong, like our youth policy and striker usage, then it's someone else's fault.

Barkley needs to ask for a transfer in the summer if Moyes stays, as the last two posts are spot on - he's one of the brightest talents in England and he's being horribly mismanaged.

Couldn't agree more mate. He deserves a run in the team especially with the form or Osman slightly dipping of late and Gibson is holding a slight injury, personally thought Gibbo would of been rested on Saturday and Barkley coming in. I wouldn't blame him if he did put a transfer request In because as previously mentioned several times, there's no doubt in saying he is one of the hottest prospects in English football right now and should be getting his break through but Moyes just won't play him.

I think that in general it can be said that David Moyes is a cautious ,conservatve man.

We have seen that in his transfer dealings. He makes the odd mistake but generally his record is excellent. He buys players and if they have the right attitude he turns them into top players.
We have seen it in team selections in particular against weaker opposition when the selection of a defensive formation has often given hope to teams at Goodison and has seen us drop points against team we should batter.Equally we are challenging for a CL spot,so how wrong can he be ?
We see it with young players where he won't take a chance and give them a run in the team, the games against Cheltenham and Oldham are two examples of where young players could have been given some game time.In fact I would say the Oldham game was crying out for the introduction of Duffy.

I don't think it is unreasonable to say that David Moyes has not dealt well this season with Duffy,Barkley and possibly Vellios.I am not sure that any of that three have made any progress this season ingetting closer to the first team and this is done to their handling by the manager.

Completely disagree.

Hes still bloody young and if Moyes is here next year I bet you now we see a lot more of him in the first team.

Agree with this. He has talent so should be given a decent run to test him out. 10/15 mins is tough on anyone.
