Ross Barkley

he seems to do the hard things very well but fooks up all the easy stuff!

which imo is in his head if he sorts that out he will be a very good player!

Just lacking match sharpness. Can't expect a young player that hasn't started a game in the Premier League in two years to come into a big game and make a difference.

I'd keep him on again next week vs QPR, switch him for Ossie for a game. But that is never going to happen.

I'd play him next week.

Pienaar for Osman, Fellaini for Heitinga.

Mirallas right, Pienaar left, Fellaini and Gibson central with Barkley behind Anichebe. Won't happen though.

Exactly. We didn't lose today with him in the team, he didn't give away any goals.

We were some dodgy defending from senior players away from winning a game that he played half of.

Would have been a good lesson on his road to learning to be a Premier League player, exctly what we should be doing with him, giving him game time.

I can't describe how poor he was today enough. Playing out of position is no excuse. Where you are on the field should not affect a professional footballer's ability to control the ball and pass it. Countless times he would get the ball and either not control it (one awful uncontrolled pass back to the back 4 was the worst) when he had time to, or control it, not look up, invite pressure and kind of shield the ball while backing into the Spurs player - usually losing it or playing it to someone under pressure.

Not impressed and I don't think he will make it.

I find this incredible considering talksport were raving saying he looks quite a prospect, not the finished article but did well out wide and put himself about.

This in a nutshell. The odd few minutes here and there will not have him up to speed. Start him in the next few games and he will then be up to speed and then and only then can we pass true judgement on him. I still believe in him but lets not waste him out wide.

Below average today for me. Means nothing except he didn't have a great game.
Look at Anichebe, he had years of mediocrity before this season and he's the dogs danglies this season.

Spurs pressed so hard that every one of our players looked rusty today. I think the desire to see him do well makes an underwhelming display seem much more disappointing, but that desire really just comes from hype we've created ourselves. A brilliant young player coming through the youth system and controlling games for us is such a compelling narrative that we tend to get a bit dejected when he fails to make much of an impression.

This might actually be a huge learning experience for him. Pretty much nothing he attempted came of today, which, if he's to become the player we hope, will teach him how much better he'll need to be if he's going to produce at senior level what he previously has at youth level.

This in a nutshell. Barkley was poor today, you can't shy away from that but credit should be given to Spurs for how well they went about retaining possession.

I thought Gibson and Osman were equally underwhelming, we looked so hurried whenever we had the ball in midfield. There was also a real lack of options when a player looked up. All in all it was a very difficult game for Barkley to come into but hopefully he'll be better for the experience.

Thought he was OK given the circumstances - our midfield was under siege yesterday, very little controlled possession. He's hardly going to come into a game like that and take it by the scruff of the neck. Thought Leon was poor in particular, which can't have helped Barkley's game beside him. He did seem to fold a bit in the second half after a couple of mistakes, so probably right to hook him off. Hope he plays next week.

Made up he got some much needed minutes on the pitch. Would love someone to give a full analysis.

Read back, I agree with most of the points people make about him. I just don't think he should be in our first team yet.
So I suggest a year long loan could be the making of him, and I get the standard reply for all the t*ts on here... "OK mate", and people telling me I shouldn't be watching football.
Get a grip children.
all the tits on here ,says the man with a picture of a poodle in a skirt with pig tails .
