Ross Barkley

Barkley is class. Just needs a bit of of time to sharpen up gathering the ball in and maybe learning how to draw the foul in tight spots.

He'll be immense for us.

The drawing the foul is a hell of a shout.
Pienaar and Osman do this very well indeed.

It took him a while to get going at Sheffield Wednesday, he probably needs game time to adjust just like then. Not a bad appearance, he was just decent.

He was like a rabbit caught in the headlights every time he got the ball. Hopefully it's just nerves, but I think his decision making may leave something to be desired. We haven't seen enough to judge him, but it looks like he's not ready for this type of game yet. I'd like to see him get another 10-20 against QPR though, in a game that hopefully will be much more relaxed and comfortable for him.
Would be nice for him to get on the pitch against the team he made such a promising debut against. Looked a bit lost today but that's to be expected.

Very hard game to come into for the lad. Playing out of posistion and tbf he did no worse than Osman did on the wing. Really wasn't a game for wingers tbf even mirallas was largely quiet awsome goal asside!

He needs more games in the first team. A run of games really to adjust and get up to speed, obviously that's tricky to do this season. He'll get there and will be fine in the end. European footy next year would really give him the chances to kick on. Hope we can somehow sneak in.

I can't describe how poor he was today enough. Playing out of position is no excuse. Where you are on the field should not affect a professional footballer's ability to control the ball and pass it. Countless times he would get the ball and either not control it (one awful uncontrolled pass back to the back 4 was the worst) when he had time to, or control it, not look up, invite pressure and kind of shield the ball while backing into the Spurs player - usually losing it or playing it to someone under pressure.

Not impressed and I don't think he will make it.

If anything he kept Walker quiet, whereas when Osman went over there Walker had a field day.

Are you popcorning mate?

Just needs a good run in, should start him in place of Osman against QPR. Once he gets some confidence, he'll be a dramatically better player.

No, he was poor from minute one today. I don't agree that he kept Walker quiet at all, and I found it frustrating that Baines often had no simple ball because Barkley was ensuring he was marked.

Osman wasn't much better, but that doesn't make it OK.
