Talk about changing the subject. Your statement was nonsense. If with Gibson we concede 34 goals a season then what are you expecting us to concede with a proper DM. 33? Well worth the effort finding this proper DM. Maybe our problems lie elsewhere.

The point was saying Gibson could anchor the midfield on his own.

I disagreed.

You say that if he'd played all season, we'd concede only 34 goals based on stats. I pulled up another stat as fundementally it doesnt hold too much water.

Personally, I don't believe that as he's player that disrupts play but a player that cleans up and links defense to attack.

But if you think he's a good DM ala Tiote, Diame, Yaya, etc then that's what you feel like. I just disagree
 
So is it fair to say he looks like he needs actual decent game time to be able to grow into a game and become comfortable because he's looked better in his starts than he has coming on late in games?

What are you on about. That number is reality. You said a proper DM would mean we would concede less goals. The facts are that you can't go much lower than we do with him in the team. We average less than a goal a game with Gibson in the team. This is just about as good as any team averages. A proper DM isn't going to have much, if any impact on that average.

He's wrong in how he's saying it though. He's basically saying that no matter how well Ross plays, Osman will play when fit, which is the wrong message to send out to a young player. Players should be selected on performance, and there's no reason whatsoever for Leon Osman to come straight back into the first team right now, because he's been lacklustre lately and Ross has just put it a great performance against a top side.

He should have said something like "the lad put in a great shift against a top side, he has a way to go before he cements a first team place but he's doing the right things - it's up to him to carry on doing those things and giving me selection headaches".

It's just occurred to me that Barkley's introduction to the first team has coincided with his suspension for the U21 for three matches. Has Moyes put him in just to make sure that he's playing some form of competitive football?
 
Couple of times today he had the ball out wide and I feel his natural inclination was to take the man on but Moyes's comments about giving the ball away must have been weighing him down.

This, 100%. Gibson's tackling is one of his qualities... in the Man City game he was just marvellous, absolutely everywhere with flawless tackling and passing. I couldn't believe that 18 months prior he was the Man Utd reject we picked up for £500k who was mocked by his own fans. I think he has gotten better with almost every game, and I think he must be at or near his peak now. Another great bargain from Moyes.
