Just read the article in the telegraph I think it was? Prob already posted and discussed but....

Well Well Well, how about Mr Liverpool, Steven Gerrard telling Barkley there's nothing better than staying at your local club and becoming a hero. That the big boys will be hounding hiM and he should ignore them and stay put. Cheers Stevie I hate u that little bit less!

Barkley's answer anyway was he loves Everton and all he does is dream about playing for Everton!

The cold facts of the matter are that Gerrard elbowed a club dj when he wan't looking then allowed his hangers on to jump in and protect him, ran over a kid in his car, and is married to a beautiful young woman that puts bottles over other peoples heads in restaurants. He was leaving LFC for money, and titles, until his family was threatened and his shirts burnt by the best fans in der werld on you tube.

Ok how? How are the aforementioned 'facts' anything to do with this matter? As in what context do they give the conversation between Gerrard and Barkley?

And since we're already here impersonating Liverpool fans by typing in scouse is a bit of a strange (and slightly degrading) one, since more of our fans probbaly speak in a scouse accent than theirs!

I must be naive......I read it as a seasoned pro giving what I see as good advise to the "latest thing" in English football.I'm no Stevie G fan,but he has a wealth of experience playing in a hotbed for football, whatever Blues think of him,he's been loyal to his club and his fans, really don't see it as any hidden agenda to keep him from going to a big four club or to keep his place in the world cup squad.

Spot on.

He made a few mistakes, nothing wrong with that in my eyes. He is still learning and far from the finished article.

I really hope he shows up them lot when we play them, skins Gerrard and scores a pile driver.

Urm just like Mr Rooney!

Having sat & watched the full match again, I thought that was his best 90 mins in an Everton shirt. You can visibly see him improving by the week & it's great to see. I thought his decision making was a bit off at times - a couple of times when on the edge of the box in the first half, he laid it off when well placed to shoot & then vice versa in the 2nd half, but his touch & weight of pass were sublime at times.

It was him driving forward that got us those free kicks as well, even when things arent quite clicking he attacks

exactly, two assists, we would have never won that game by just lumping it up to fellaini, west ham's grocks would have been able to deal with the second phase.

barkley was really good again i thought, he just needs to go back and watch his goal against norwich and realise that as he has such a good shot on him, why doesnt he shoot more? takes one touch too many in some dangerous areas; but it never stops the attack as he still retains the ball, just think he could get himself more and us more goals.

Agree - i'd love to see him be more selfish and look to hit it more often. He's certainly got the quality.

Barkley is a great prospect and could be the best thing since Rooney. Lets enjoy him and take into consideration his learning curve. Lets not pick holes when he misplaces a couple of passes or maybe should have made a better decision, afterall no footballer is perfect. Lets enjoy and celebrate that its Everton who he loves and plays for.

There was plenty of times yesterday when he shot and smashed it over, when passing would have been the much better option.

It's not that he isn't selfish enough, he just needs to learn WHEN to be selfish.
