was kind of tounge in cheek, he's not close to barkley imo
I've noticed he keeps winning free kicks around the edge of the box. Resulted in 2 goals yesterday and Baines-lad also hit the bar recently as well. I'm wondering if this will be the trend for the rest of the season (woo!) or if defenders will find another way to kick him.

Teams have seen he's got a good shot on him. It's a different thing having Osman or Pienaar on the edge of the box who don't make the goalie work and when they do it doesn't usually warm his hands.
Not much you can do about Barkley's change of pace or the way he can shift a ball. Will see him winning plenty of freekicks in similar positions I reckon.
Couple times he held on to the ball when he should have shot, and another couple of times he shot when he should have passed. But will get better and better i'm sure. What a talent.
Great spot that mate. No one wants to shadow him into the box for fear of giving a pen away. A few lads will be getting 2nd yellows as well I can see like Noble.

Spot on with FK thing. He wins a lot a will continue to do so throughout the season. I don't remember us having that since Arteta, when he used to win us several every game (especially when winning).
Barkley wins them differently mind, he scares the **** out of teams running at them, it's great to see! And with Baines ready to pick up the dead ball, it bodes well.

He gives the defenders problems because he's both a goal threat at that range so has to be shut down and easily capable of changing pace and direction if you get too tight drawing fouls or losing you. Should saying he's going to be a huge player go in the knee jerk thread or is it close to being the norm?
