No bloody way is that JLS reject earning that scratch?

thought it was 35k tbh, but this is almost my point, too much money before he'd really done anything. Now all he does is batter his birds and buy his way out of court.

When the RS offered him that though he was in the first team, scoring and looking promising.

Id have expected Barkley to be on a couple of grand - 5 or 6 maybe and this next one would take him onto about the 15 / 20 mark.

I honestly dont think throwing money at him is an issue yet. Dont see him running his contract down or anything daft like that. Dont think we need to panic at all.

I might be wrong, but it's daylight robbery either way!

The only issue is extending his contract and if it takes a pay rise to get it done then so be it!

seems really high considering he signed it as an 18 year old who wasnt really playing?

not saying your lying, just seems strange we gave him so much.

Gotta go in heavy though, if we offer a pittance and Chelsea et al come along he could just follow the dough.

yeah, sterling is on around 30k I think. He was on 2k/3k wasn't he before he started playing OK and apparently united were in for him and other teams so they gave him a new contract.

that kid who scored for WBA against man u at the weekend is on £850.00 a week apparantly.

With kids thats about right really but then one good game, one good goal, clubs start hovering and all of a sudden theyre on silly wages. Pathetic tbh, I wish contracts were worth more than the paper theyre written on then the club wouldnt feel it would have to do this. Then the kid might continue to concentrate on the football instead of turning up the next day in a 100k merc - like that 5hitehawk Sterling is supposed to have done

It's really not that much in this day and age. Ravel Morrison walked straight into a 17k-a-week contract at West Ham while having serious off-the-field issues and without playing a second of Premier League football. Teams are more than willing to throw money at highly rated youngsters because they know they'll more than make it back later.

"The 18-year-old has agreed a deal keeping him at Goodison Park until the end of the 2015-16 season."

So still has the best part of three years to go on the current contract. Nothing to be concerned about for this season at least

He's the most talented kid of his generation, we need to make sure he feels valued though, especially if he goes the world cup, guess its a tricky one finding the right balance
