He'll be incredibly wealthy if he says at Everton for his career... okay maybe he'd earn more elsewhere, but how much is enough? Money isn't everything. Wouldn't it be fantastic if Ross bucked the trend of modern footballers and stayed at his home club.

Exactly. Which is why they move to clubs that can win things.

...don't forget his hangers on, they will all want a %. If things pan out, his salary is only a portion of his earning power and there will be significant amount more via commercial contracts etc. Those contracts will reflect his profile and that will be greater at one of the worlds top clubs. Saying all that we are probably getting a bit ahead of ourselves here.

What's his contract situation? How many years left? Why aren't we already tying him down to a new 5 year deal (with NO buy out clause or something silly like 200m like they do in Spain) before he gets so good his agent will want 100 grand a week to sign? Playing for England is just going to inflate his ego even more, I'm not knocking the lad btw, it's completely natural for someone so young. Ross cannot be sold, not for 30m or 50m. We've just sold our best player to Man Utd, where does end?

He had three years left at the start of this summer. There's no need to rush into another contract yet

I agree he should be tied down to a big contract with a ridiculous buy out clause. Every 2 years it should be upgraded if he's still doing the business.

We shouldn't be letting his contract get down to 2 years remaining IMO. That's when the club ends up being under pressure to sell cheapish, rather than losing a player for nothing in 2 years.

I think I said it earlier in this thread but I'll say it again.

To those of you calling for a hefty buy ouy clause to be added to a new contract you need to realise one thing.

Players valued at 50 million (for example) are on astronomical wages. We can't just give him a little pay rise and add a buy out clause that only City and PSG could afford. His agent will be in on any negotiation and will piss himself laughing at any such suggestion.

Might as well just sell him now and get it out the way with.

Seriously, In 6 months he's gone from not being good enough to being too good for us. I hate modern football with a passion.

We should do a misery on him, so no-one can have him.
