Ross Barkley

Barkley was superb today for the majority of the game and carried most of our threat in open play. The lads feet are rapid as fk, he's quick, and he's a big lad, must be a mare to play against.

You don't think Barkley has football 'brains'?

Nuuuurse, nuuuursem he's out of his bed again!

Thats not what i said is it?

He doesn't have the brains to play a deeper midfield role yet because a lot of that part of the game is positioning and knowing where to be at the right time, about not taking risks and being safe, something which comes from experience he doesn't have yet.

He's better off playing further forward at the moment where he can use his attacking brain rather than his defensive brain which will only get better the more he plays. Then you cn think about moving him back.

Ross and his attempted dive which got him booked is the biggest gripe for the RS, I see they are prefixing it with " England's" Ross Barkley now.

Under their skin, it's starting. I want belabour the obvious parallel with their own starfish captain.

i mentioned to a red****e that barkley must be taken lessons of the sewerat.
O my God the venom I got Back.No sense of humour,i thinking about it
he had no sense at all.

...I just want him to utilise that awesome shooting power. He demonstrated it at Norwich and would like to see him pull the trigger a little more. I'm sure that will come, he just seems to take an extra touch at the moment even when he's got himself half a yard to unleash the hammer.

I thought midfield excelled when Barry was moved out of it to be honest, I know he's done well for us, but Ross being two footed and able to turn on the ball in one movement made us far more fluid, james mac seemed to get a boost from it aswell, gerard put them on the backfoot, Mirallas got closer to lukaku, I honestly thought we looked a far more fluid team with these players in those positions.

Maybe a case for 4-3-3? Barry sitting in the holding role and flanked by McCarthy and Barkley

Barkley is a beast, he got the lot, speed, physical, skill, vision, he going to be a hell of a player if he keeps himself focused. The big guns will be sniffing around him next summer.
