Ross Barkley

It's only my opinion but I think he should play deeper than he usually has, where he can create havoc by making surging runs through midfield, attacking the space etc.

I think in the future our two central midfielders (if we keep this formation) will be McCarthy and Barkley. I do think he is defensibly responsible enough to play there some matches now. Especially if we are favored to keep possession. It should be another tool for Martinez in his belt to change the look of a game. If we are down or struggling to break through bring on Della for Barry. Plus you know Barkley can hit a long pass to send in Lukaku and take advantage of some runs.

Whats not to like?

Doesn't actually do much with the ball, poor decision making, lazy defensively, doesn't work hard enough off the ball. He got himself into a position to assist or score several times yesterday and failed to produce again and again.

You can see exactly why he has been sent on loan, he's a million miles away from being close to playing for Barcelona regularly.

Still think he's going to be a very good player mind.

Pienaar was good yesterday, no way i'd be dropping him for Deulofeu.

Think some people are too easily swayed by his 'ability' and the fact he loves running at defenders.

Agreed... sort of. I know what you're saying as he seems to get swatted off the ball and at times just falls over, but on the other hand in the last five or so minutes he came to life and looked threatening.

I don't think he's worthy of a start but he's definitely a useful option on the bench. After Christmas when he gets more adjusted to this league he could be a great player for us.

He's utter mince LAD.

Hes only gonna improve on the pitch.

Agreed that hes a little raw, but hes got bags of talent.

he puts the oppo right on the back foot as well, it means kev can play in the center off the striker were he's better, pienaar can stay on the left, ross can drop back and bring the ball out while macca does the running, barry can play left back if baines is out, he's too slow and one footed in the center.

Obviously you like him. Obviously.

You're not alone though mate, plenty on here think he's the sex. He's good but rough diamond is a phrase seemingly tailor made for him.

the 2nd half has convinced me of what I already, the more pacey, stepover minded players we can squeeze into the team the better, this is clearly what we have to do against stoke

Gerard (swerve that hard to spell surname) Macca Ross Pienaar

Kev

Take the slow turning HMS Barry out of midfield and were looking at some pure sexy football here

I like the lack of Barry. He turns slower than one of the moons orbiting round Goat. I just love your footballing mantra, you'd just want a team of Mirrallas and Barkleys. It could go horribly wrong but it will look phenomenal while it does.
