Hope he has a blinder, then Chelsea offer us £3.4 billion for him, then we decline until they offer £5 billion and Courtois. Then we accept, buy Messi, win everything from the Champions League to the World Cup (after FIFA recognise the blue half of Merseyside as its own Sovereign state) and everyone lives happily ever after.

Can't see a downside to this. Good point.

So you want him to court a move to Chelsea until he gets 'persuaded' into staying?

No. I want him to lead the team by example for 20 years and inspire players around him.

Gerrard is a massive tit, but he best English midfielder of his generation.

This is a scenario with great merit...I like it.

Not sure they'd sell Courtois with Cech getting on a bit.

One good goal at the WC and a bunch of big offers shouldn't worry us at this point. I wouldn't accept less than £65M for him, even then I would have to really think hard about it. He's got the potential to be worth even more than that, Chelsea can come in with their bid but I think Ross would want to stay at his boyhood club, no matter what the money.

Rooney has had a better club career, but was never as good as pre injury Gazza. 1989-91 Gazza was phenomenal, in that two years Gazza was as good as anybody that has ever played the game IMO.
Yes, he was unbelievably good. Such balance and control. Best English player I have seen...pity his head was prone to going soft

Barkley has shown more than occasional glimpses of similar balance and power...I truly hope he reaises his potential. Bias aside, he is at the right club to nurture that...Everton (his boyhood club) with RM at the helm have come good just at the right time for Barkley to continue on an upward trajectory with quality players around him.
Gazza's big mistake was going to Spurs...London was too easy to go out of control in. He probably should have gone to SAF's Utd...kept him focussed.

Who'd of thought whilst watching Gazza at WC 90 that would be his only ever WC for England!

Best English player I've ever seen in his pomp. Shame injuries and all the other stuff limited what he should of achieved.

Ross is the closest I've seen to Gazza. That is very exciting!!

Watching him live is something special, but re-watching our games with him on fire is actually like watching footy porn.

I watch loads & loads of footy, like all of you on here, I watch loads of PSG & Juve & Real & Barca, and the ability Ross has with the ball, is as good as anything in those teams. His drive is like Yaya & Pogba, his passing is like Pirlo & Varretti & Xavi & Alonso, and his finishing is as good as Iniest, Cabaye & Vidal, he keeps this up, he will be the best midfielder on the planet.....and he is ours.
