Ross Barkley

This nails it. This opportunity doesn't come around very often and we should enjoy Barkley's development.
We've been very fortunate in that two have emerged in a relatively short time, in Rooney and Barkley. With Rooney, we got excited and then had to be content with reflected glory as we saw him go on to greatness at another club. We are in a position now I hope, where we can fend off any advances other than the extraordinary offer, like a Bale sized one. Not because he's worth it now like, but because there are few football things more precious as a home grown superstar who remains loyal throughout his career.
We might mock Gerrard, because he's a massive bulb, but to have that sort of player or possibly even better playing for us for the next 10 or so years is nearly priceless. In my opinion anyway.

Seriously though, Lets say someone bid 50m and the board sold him to fund the stadium build, Would you understand or fume

since the prem started we are in the richest era of football ever.

but as a club its our poorest era ever.

sell sell sell

All well and good getting big money for Ross. But there isn't a player I can think of that I'd rather watch play for Everton. We could bring in a number of very good players, but it wouldn't be as good as watching a world class talent develop from our academy for me. Irrespective of the outcome.
This.

No money would make up for loosing Ross. Nothing better than seeing your own come through. Not only that, he's potentially going to be the best English player since Gazza!!

I want him to give his all to do something special here. And I want the the board to do there all to keep him like Liverpool did with Gerrard.

IF in 5 yrs we haven't moved forward enough to fufill Ross's ambitions I would begrudgingly wish him well with a big money move.

Exactly. There was no goal like a Rooney goal, now there is no goal like a Ross goal.

btw Rooney was better than Gascoigne so I'll go for best player since Rooney.

Part of what has made the Martinez era so good so far is seeing Barkley play. There's nothing better than to see an Evertonian becoming an extraordinary player.

I wouldn't sell. I'd fume if it happened but I'd understand to an extent.

The amount of media exposure that has come Evertons way in recent months because of Barkley is invaluable.
Only a Bale-esque transfer fee could justify a sale.
The club is in a very different position now compared to when Rooney was sold...but Rooney had only twelve months left on his contract and the clock is ticking with Barkley.
The most important thing for the club this summer but get Barkley signed on a long term deal.

Oh come on. We really really don't need to sell to buy this year. We really don't need to cash in on our players and any club who would want him would have to pay through the nose to get him, far and above his actual value at the moment.

That is my point mate, i think we will see huge huge bids, if he shows a bit of magic at the WC.
