Ross Barkley

Think next season maybe tricky for him, I think he will be tired after the World Cup, expect ions will be high and he will get more attention from other teams - he has to and will eventually grow through that - but I think next year is going to be tough for him and maybe not as productive!

Well he needs to kick on another gear next season in terms of consistency and end product to be considered a top player, so being less productive than this season isn't really an option.

Well I'm sure he will choose it mate, nor will we, but there are potential red flags there for me, don't really understand the not an option slant - we're hardly going to bin him if he has a less successfull season for the reasons I mentioned above are we!

I'd give him the number 10 shirt next season. Traditionally the playmaker, an attacking midfielder who can dictate the flow of attacks just behind the main striker. That's our Ross all over.

I'm not sure he has the vision or penetration with his passing for that role.

Find me 19/20 yr olds that have? Also Ross has spent he's young youth career playing deeper as more of a No.8. This is kind of a new role for him and he's learning. Towards the end of the season, his eye of the needle passing was getting better and better and he was spotting the opportunity's to try them (eg. Naismith's ) he'll get better and better.....

And yes I'd give him the No.10 shirt. He's probably happy with his No.20 tho. These days players like a squad number to stick to and market!

I don't want to hear this crap, what's wrong with some fighting talk like "Barkley, Stones and Coleman are part of our long term future, we're trying to build something here"?

He's got previous with this sort of talk. It's like we're a development club to bring on players for other clubs.

One thing is certain here though, we MUST tie Barkley down to a new long term contract as a matter of urgency. We can't afford to let next summer approach with only 12 months left on his contract.
