Every time I've heard him speak about the players he's been non committal about their long term futures. I've not heard him ONCE say that Barkley and Stones or anyone else for that matter, will be here long term.
If he has, then like I say I must have missed it.
Although he speaks English very well, perhaps sometimes the things he say's are not exactly always what he means.

Maybe he's sorta saving face in case someone makes a can't-refuse offer and the club can't say no. Be bad for his own image if he was just going on and on about this guy is our future and then he gets sold.

Let's be honest, we all this was the case anyway before Roberto hinted at it in that interview. We either need to get Champions League or win a cup, otherwise our top players will start to look elsewhere. And to be honest, setting those types of standards for ourselves is what we should be doing, not just accepting it if we finish 6th, 7th or 8th and then just hoping we can hang onto our players instead of feeling that we certainly can.

Think ya both reading way too much into that lads, for one English is not his native language so picking up each and every word will tie you in knots as their will always be something that can be misconstrued by a newspaper looking for any angle they can get to drive an agenda of a story they want to push - Barkley moving in this case.
Secondly, what he has basically said is Barkley is going nowhere next year, or another way to phrase it 'We aren't gonna be selling Barkley this season so stop printing stories we are going to'
Next summer he can just feed them another line about the next 12 months, such as we showed a further development this season to qualify for the CL, won the fa cup, uefa cup or or whatever, so obviously Ross will continue to grow with the team the next 12 months etc etc etc
Its just a clever way of palming the media off for the time being without tying himself down to something in 12, 24, 36 months time that can be used to hang him by some with should a stupid bid actually come in from a moneybags team
