Ross Barkley

Remember that game vividly. The best individual performance I've ever seen that.

Agree with you completely about the Zidane and Barkley comparison. I think he'll fall somewhat behind in terms of composure and languid brilliance in possession, but I think he'll have a lot more pure drive and energy than Zidane had.

I've said it before in this thread, I honestly think we're watching the greatest talent this country has ever seen come through the ranks.

If he ends up 80% the player Zidane was mate then your prediction would still be true

Rarely seen a player totally control the tempo of a game as seemingly without effort as Zidane in his prime, and never seen it being controlled as often

Wouldn't sell the lad for any price whatsoever, already had to watch Rooney leave, to see it happen with Ross would smash my belief that we would ever get back to the 80's level of Everton ever again

Why hasn't Ross been offered, or signed a new contract? Why is it so near the World Cup, nothing is done.Yet?

According to this, his contract runs out in 15/16 season.

Probably down to his agent. He would be silly to sign a new contract now. Have a so so world cup and he'll still demand the same contract he would prior to the tournament.

Shine however, then he's in a very strong position (and so is his agent) to demand even better wedge.

Or, the club could sign him on the current offer, and add a proviso to renegotiate after the cup...just a thought. I'd be doing anything to get him on improved terms & staying!

I'm concerned about this contract, abit nervous after Rooney leaving us. Barkley could do the same, sometimes they want to make their money NOW.

His Everton career has barely even begun. He should stay for 3 years more minimum.

I say it for every player and Ross is no exception. If he doesn't want to sign a new deal, flog him for as much as we can get for him. No point letting him run his deal down and losing him for peanuts.
