Ross Barkley

Woy's comments about Ross, i can spot what he is trying to do. He is not having a go at him at all, but rather more at the press. He can spot what they are trying to do, build up peoples expectations for him to be brilliant and put pressure on Ross.

Behind the scenes he will be praising Ross face to face, but we all know our media love to build people up to knock them down.
Trouble is the press always wanted Redknapp so they will use anything to undermine Woy, even crap like this.

agree but imagine having shaw, stones, barkley, sterling, townsend, and chamberlain in the u21's they could probably beat the senior squad

Maybe not Townsend as he really is cack with pace, but:

Butland
Chambers Stones Dier Shaw
Ward-Prowse Chalobah
Sterling Barkley Chamberlain
Berahino

that is a class starting XI tbh, would take almost all of them at Everton (Although must admit I haven't seen a lot of Chalobah, but heard good things)

Well said moomin..got to be intelligent to spot what he meant.unlike other comments.

Lol there is no guarantee whatsoever that this was some master plan by Roy, if it was do you think he'd want people like lampard bigging up ross in interviews straight after the match ?

Roys just a grumpy so and so who doesn't like the media trying to pick players for him. He is overly cautious by nature, there is no master plan to take expectation off Barkley via criticism... He's just telling it how he sees it IMO.

Been moosed then..

Hodgson impresses me as manager.
I think he is taking the right line with Barkley. A great talent but not yet ready to shoulder too much responsibility.

Stuart Pearce also has a point, but he is not taking into account the experience that the youngters will get from travelling to this tournament. If England reach the next finals in four years time these players will already have the knowledge and experience gained from this trip.

Next season I think he will be even better and will keep surprising us with his talent. After this World Cup, clubs will test us with bids as big as 70m I think. What would the club do? £70m is a hell of a lot of money

The criticism he has received by Hodgson and Pearce is totally wrong, especially on the eve of a World Cup. He is a unique talent who needs to be encouraged and not criticised in the press.
About him lossing possession, he pass rate was 91% the other night, 31 complete passes out of 35, not bad for someone who kept losing the ball.
Roy has wrongly singled him out while their were senior players who were a lot worse.

Can't wait for him to get back to Everton to be honest.
