Ross Barkley

The criticism he has received by Hodgson and Pearce is totally wrong, especially on the eve of a World Cup. He is a unique talent who needs to be encouraged and not criticised in the press.
About him lossing possession, he pass rate was 91% the other night, 31 complete passes out of 35, not bad for someone who kept losing the ball.
Roy has wrongly singled him out while their were senior players who were a lot worse.

Can't wait for him to get back to Everton to be honest.
He was caught on the ball dribbling more than any other player though, once at least in quite a dangerous part of the pitch. Roy maybe should have been a bit more diplomatic and not singled him out, but he is just trying to temper the expectation on Barkley and make him work on those aspects of his game which need tidying up.

Everyone knows he needs to improve certain aspects of his game, none better than us blues, I just hink it was totally out of order in the way he praised others and criticised him, who had a better game than most.

Roy is out of his depth with the press and was one of the queston marks over him before he took the job.

Needs to keep his grid shut and and get his teamsheet sorted out.

Maybe not Townsend as he really is cack with pace, but:

Butland
Chambers Stones Dier Shaw
Ward-Prowse Chalobah
Sterling Barkley Chamberlain
Berahino

that is a class starting XI tbh, would take almost all of them at Everton (Although must admit I haven't seen a lot of Chalobah, but heard good things)

Was saying to my brother the other day, the 3 players behind the striker, could potentially be there for the next 10+ years, all 3 have massive potential. On their day they can cause big problems for the opposition with their pace, power and how direct they are.

It isn't going to happen this year, but moving forward they should be the 3 advanced midfielders starting future games for me, play them together until they all reach their peak together.

Loling at Hodgson here:

"i know what ill do to keep Ross Barkley out of the media spotlight - ciriticise him - when he is being very ace."

Que a weeks headlines re: Ross Barkley.

"Now i know what ill do: ill give an interview about Ross Barkley explaingin why i criticsed him - to keep him out of the media attention"

You couldnt make it up, bring on the penos!

One thing that I haven't heard being mentioned in the mainstream media is Ross's record when coming off the benich in terms of his own individual performances have been bang average at best, when he came off the bench away at Chelsea that was as poorer performance I have seen him have, he needs longer than 20 minutes to change a game and if that is what England are expecting of him then that in a way will heap more pressure on him.

'Go on Ross, we're 1-0 down and need to win to go through, do your best in the last 10 lad'

Only top drawer sub performance was against Arsenal at home

God knows what the manager asked of him last game, but one can infer that he wanted him to push up all the way when we had the ball, that was the worst part of his game imo.
I hope this will teach him who has his best interests at heart. Keep your chin up Ross and ignore the smeg-smeared bells lid.

Hodgson impresses me as manager.
I think he is taking the right line with Barkley. A great talent but not yet ready to shoulder too much responsibility.

Stuart Pearce also has a point, but he is not taking into account the experience that the youngters will get from travelling to this tournament. If England reach the next finals in four years time these players will already have the knowledge and experience gained from this trip.

This...Its far better for Everton and Ross if expectations are kept low. Nothing good can come from a media storm. It may be too late.
