Ross Barkley

It's because sports writers and TV commentators and pundits are all thick, lazy arseholes whose opinions are worthless. Townsend claimed that Barkley's pass to Lambert, following his 40-yard run in the Ecuador game, was short. But the finish itself was "sublime", "wonderful", "a fizzer", etc., even though Barkley's run had sucked in four defenders and left Lambert unmarked in front of the posts.
That tells you just how incorrigibly stupid Townsend is.

I hope all this, coupled with Hodgson's incompetence doesn't mean that the world cup is a bad thing for his development at the moment.....Hopefully Bobby M is having a quiet word to him through all this....

I don't understand how Managers like Moyes and Roy see Barkley losing the ball an issue, he bound to lose the ball as he that type of player. Is that what we're teaching our kids, always play the safe pass.

This really. They're petrified of him losing the ball, and yet he's in the most harmless area of the pitch to lose it. All the other lids lost it quite a lot last night, and much closer to our goal, so I really don't see what their problem is.

It seems to me that players like Barkley get labelled with 'he can win you a game but he loses the ball alot' while players like Henderson are viewed as 'steady and wont give the ball away' regardless of whether they lose the ball or not. Confirmation bias from managers big time.

no mate, toe the line eh, we want to get as close to rawk as possible

I think it's good that we can question a manager even when its all going well as it allows us to be good judges. We may not always be right and opinions not always valid, but it gives us a rough idea where a manager is performing or not, so we can see when Martinez is taking the absolute piss or we've stumbled across the greatest club manager of all time.
I think we should all reflect on how lucky we are to not be North Korean though.

just an agenda mate. you get early first impressions of someone and you always nit-pick looking for those same things to happen. whereas it will be the opposite for someone else.

Not at all. But they might be right and Martinez wrong sometimes. It has been known to happen.

Well in the 1 in 1999 times that happens, I'm sure it's been for the good of the club and appropriate steps have been taken to correct Mr. Martinez and his hapless predecessor Mr. Moyes.

Well ok. It doesn't actually effect anything immediately like, but it's important howwe perceive Martinez. I'm not sure blind faith is the best way.

It's not blind faith, is it though mate? I had my doubts about him, but he clearly knows what he's doing. I'm not gonna second guess his every decision. Put it this way - IMWT. :p
