Ross Barkley

Wonder how Barkley himself feels about getting farmed down a division. That's a slight disappointment that you started the first game of last season, and this season you're already ruled out. Poor kid. Though obviously he'll benefit from it. Chin up, chin up.

He'd start for a bunch of prem teams you'd imagine.

Think you're off there. He showed promise when he was on the pitch but certainly not ready for the day in/day out of the premier league. A move to the championship, if we have a bit more cover, is definitely the right move for him.

We have had a succession of great hopes as youngsters, some went on loan came back and flopped. Only Rooney made the grade. It could be he hasn't 'trained on'

He is only 18 and not ready for the premiership other than cameos from the bench. He needs to be playing regularly rather than making cameos from the bench, so loaning him out to a championship side for a few months is totally logical.

I like to think he's smart enough to realise that such a move could only be beneficial for him.
Hardly a slap in the face for him, is it.

Why loan out your best prospect ?

Because he ISN'T ready for the first team, and he's going to learn nothing sitting on the bench and coming on for 5/10 mins every game and playing once a fortnight for the reserves.

Far better for him to play 90 minutes every week in the Championship and grow as a player and a person. He's 18, not 21 or 22.
