Sadly im resigned to enjoying him this season in what could be his swansong season with us will be a bitter pill to swallow
but as has been the trend in recent history stupid money will be offered and the board will give it the nod

Must admit that does rankle with me a little, and I know it shouldn't. The worst is the "let him stay at Everton to develop for another year, then we'll take him next summer"

May not bother the younger fans too much who haven't lived through any success here, but when you've lived through the 70s and 80's and seen us win trophies for fun, it hits home when you read things like that just how far we've fallen in the eyes of the younger fans of other clubs, who just see us as plucky little Everton, feeder club who never win anything.
Not just the older fans mate, I'm 21 and it winds me right up!

No he's not.
100% agree mate and I don't think he will be going anywhere soon either. I don't think he will push for a move, I don't think Martinez would sell him and I don't think Kenwright is looking to cash in on him and I think he will achieve the majority of what he wants to at Everton which will hopefully mean winning trophies and European Football.

I am worried by the failure to tie up the contract that was supposedly being negotiated before news of that suddenly disappeared from the media. It is logical to be concerned due to the state of modern football and the existence of clubs like Chelsea and Man City. It also naturally follows on from studying the behaviour of the Kenwright parasite and it's fellow boardroom species over 14 years.

Have a good WC and Chelsea or City won't be able to afford him since PSG and RM will be after him.

Well it's been a priority for the manager since the end of January so either the longest contract negotiations in history are taking place or someone's thrown a spanner in the works.

Having secured the services of two of his most valued senior professionals on new contracts, Martinez reiterated that agreeing improved long-term deals with the Club’s emerging stars this season - notablySeamus Coleman and Ross Barkley - remains a priority.

Right-back Coleman and midfielder Barkley are contracted to Everton until 2018 and 2016 respectively.

But Martinez is keen that both are recognised for the progress they have made.

He said: “Seamus is in a completely different situation [than Distin] because his contract is not running out. It’s the same with Ross Barkley.

“But some of the youngsters at the Club have this season gone up to the next level and, contractually, that should be reflected.

“That’s what we are going to do. We are going to reward the players who are developing and doing well.”

“It’s still fresh in my mind. You had other players my age who were getting loads of money. One player used to turn up and his mum and dad had a Bentley.
“I’d be waiting at the bus stop and they would ask me if I wanted a lift home but I’d always say no because I was too embarrassed.”
When the party did belatedly arrive at their training base, a local schoolboy serenaded the players with “We are the champions.”

This is from an article on the Echo, who are the other player? just found this strange that our best young player would get less paid, hope this is not influencing his decision now over a new contract.

Although I do love our Ross, I wish he'd hurry up and sign a 5 year deal. I really thought this was getting sorted out around January time, but then it all went quiet. If he indicates after the world cup that he isn't going to sign a new deal, then flog him while we can still demand a big fee. Losing him for nothing is beyond comprehension.
