Ross Barkley

Cant stand this way, making players scared of making mistakes, its pathetic.

It's ridiculous.

Problem is, Barkley does have an issue with losing the ball.

That being, poor decision making (keeping the ball too long, trying to beat someone) in defensive positions when an easy pass to a team mate would have been the sensible option. Not a huge issue but one that as a young inexperiecned player he needs to work on.

Shouldn't even be a big deal and something to be dealt with on the training ground but both Moyes and Hodgson have overblown it and transferred it to him giving the ball away in general, even when attacking and taking people on, trying to make something happen.

Who would have thought that the street footballing force of nature at Euro 2004 would turn into a Botoxed Footballing Elton John - full of trantrums and hair transplants.

This.

When he looks closely at all those medals they all say Manchester United.

Not one says England. Not one says Everton.

What a waste..............

the irony of all those years of Hansen & Lawrenson telling us that you don't try anything fancy at the back and just get it out. Turns out they were dead wrong and the last thing you do is give possession away cheaply by panicking at the back & hoofing it. Only a few English managers have cottoned on to this even now. Thank god for Bobby

Whilst I agree with your sentiment, I'm pretty sure Rooney just looks at his bank balance and shrugs.
I'd say that reflects 99.9% of all of the over paid early 20 's millionaire professional footballers of today
on a personal point I hate the national side and generally cheer on their opponents with the exception of argentina (it's a falklands thing) I don't want our players playing for England and find it hilarious when people are 'gutted' when England are eliminated from tournaments

Of course he loses the ball, all young attacking players should lose the ball, its called learning and development, the more he plays the better he will get, Ronaldo use to always lose the ball in his earlier days, this should be encourage, not frowned on. Sick of England tidy midfielders who only pass sideways and are scared to try bit of skill to get through tight defences. Did roy get on Sterling back to the media when he loses the ball? No cos he didn't want to upset the Liverpool players. The England set up is a joke at the moment.

All attacking players lose the ball, if they never, they'd be getting about 10 assists every game.

Yes, and like i said, its not about attacking players losing the ball when attacking.

As far as i can remember, Sterling didn't lose the ball in his own half minutes after coming on by trying to turn and beat 2 men when he had a simple pass to a team mate which in that situation you play every time. Unlike Barkley in an England friendly before the WC.

Thats simply something that a manager needs to work on with the player on the training ground, not criticise him for it in public.

But if you do say anything publically you make sure you emphasise that kind of incident but praise the rest of his game, not say he loses the ball too much or any such guff.

No, but he did plenty of times against Uruguay.

All players loose the ball, Barkley had an overall 96% pass completion rate over the two games. Enough said.

Roy wanted to play Sterling and had already made his mind up that Sturridge, Rooney and Welbeck would start.

He simply made up a bullshit reason to stop the media from pressurizing him to play Barkley.

If Maradona had of played the simple pass when surrounded by two players in his own half then he would never have scored the goal of the century.

This! Roy had decided on sterling, it didn't matter what happened in the friendly games sterling was his "Gazza 90" He even moved Rooney to accommodate him. Ross was always gonna be coming on from the bench.

If Rooney

Ross is apparently starting tommorrow along side Lampard, I think he'll do well and shine.

Who do we expect him to be linked with on Wednesday morning? Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool, City, Arsenal, Barca or Real Madrid?

My guess is at least four of those six.

Which is fine if they pay us £80m.
