Ross Barkley

From a neutral point of view this is an honest take on Barkley and England.

If i was a fan of any other club i would see barkley as a fantastic talent who was woefully underused in our defeats in the WC. someone who needs the space and time on the ball but at the same time can be an absolute star. Bringing him on for 20 minutes and throwing him up when chasing a game (twice- 1 to stay in cup) without passing it to him or making him the creative influence was one of the reasons why we struggled to beat the two.

From a foriegn perspective;

those english have a really good talent who they are not playing in favour of a winger who keeps running into the defender and two midfielders who havent done anything to control the game. No wonder the english are going out, our talent is starting games for us.

Any of that accurate opinions or is my blue bias creeping in?

btw im not foreign or a fan of any other club :)

Pretty much bang on the money. The love in with Sterling has baffled me; he's been a complete liability.

This! Roy had decided on sterling, it didn't matter what happened in the friendly games sterling was his "Gazza 90" He even moved Rooney to accommodate him. Ross was always gonna be coming on from the bench.

If Rooney

Was that not obvious? I picked England's starting eleven and formation a week before the Italy game. It was only due to Sterling being a bit [Poor language removed] (lets be honest) that Ross even got the minutes he did.

For some reason certain types of managers just don't trust Ross. I wonder if it's because he's not exactly the brightest bulb.

But they should. One thing Moyes was right about "Don't give him any defensive responsibility." He can chase around like he did against Arsenal but tracking runners etc. He'll never be that player. He's a player that needs to play on instinct and he needs to be free to do so. In other words Moyes and Hodgson worst nightmare.

Playing alongside Lampard in a two will go horrible. Playing at the top of a 3 will go very well.

Both Michael Ballack and Dietmar Hamann have said he should have started - with Hartman saying he would have even for Germany - and Germans seem to know a little bit about good midfielders.

Ross is apparently starting tommorrow along side Lampard, I think he'll do well and shine.

Who do we expect him to be linked with on Wednesday morning? Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool, City, Arsenal, Barca or Real Madrid?
It wouldn't surprsie me if Barkley goes and Suarez stays.

Shades of 86 when we scoffed at Rush joining Juventus only for him to stay an extra season whilst we lost Lineker straight away.

I don't want him to play. The tournament is over.

If he has a worldy then he'll be the new saviour of English football and worse, he'll have no games to fuckup so the hype will just build.

If he has a [Poor language removed] game then his confidence will be wrecked.

Right now, he's done well but not well enough that everyone is jumping on the bandwagon.

Unfortunately I think it will be one of the two depending on where he plays.

All players loose the ball, Barkley had an overall 96% pass completion rate over the two games. Enough said.

The issue wasn't how often he lost the ball, it's when and where he did it. He was trying to turn players pressing him in his own defensive third. He has a good touch and can pick a pass, but his decision making is questionable at times to say the least.

But some his best performances have come by running from deep after narrowly getting/keeping the ball.

He'll get better at it but it will probably always be a risk given how he seems to like to play. Just have to hope that is is the opposition defence that has a terrified look on their face as Barkley run at them rather than our own as he loses the ball.

Personally id like barkley to start and destroy costa rica.

He will then be full of confidence for thr new season and will have shown up hodgson and the other players.

That hamamm article on the bleacher report from may says at the bottom not to play rooney or sturridge wide....and look what happened!!
