Ross Barkley

It's too many people listening to what dinosaurs like Moyes and Hodgson say.
This is true. They are old school and its so refreshing when managers like RM come along and let them play with arrogance and no fear. Its the only way forward and the only way to create great players on the world stage. Only British ex players, managers and the like think that cavalier players are a hindrance whilst the more forward thinking and more evolved managers encourage them. When you have players like Ross Barkley you also need the workhorse players to cover and look after them and not turn them into fellow workhorse players. Its a british disease which will take a long long time to go away.

Look at the worlds best ever players and you will see that they all carried the ball rather than pass sideways when faced with an opponent

Just been watching zidane compilations on YouTube and I think I read somewhere that he is Ross's idol. I do see some similarities with the way they play definately. If Ross turns into even half the player Zidane was then we could be looking at one of England's best ever players.
Zidane, in terms of style, is exactly who I think of when I watch Ross. Ability wise he's got a fair way to go yet (obviously) but he's stronger and faster than Zizou ever was, he's just not quite got the same feel for the weight of a ball yet or the consistent brilliance. Maybe those things won't come in time, but I think we are looking at one of our best ever players in Ross.

Has Ross been round the hodgson family picking off the young birds or something?

Roys interview then.....

Basically saying "everyone who knows there stuff was wanting Ross to start. So here he is"

Knob, bet he's dying for Ross to have a bad game to say I told you so! You'll look a [Poor language removed] tho Roy if he has a blinder.

You've read an awful lot into a innocent comment Christiffa!!

You say this but remember Ross has only just turned 20.

I remember seeing Zidane around the same age for Bordeaux and he certainly wasn't producing the kind of performances we are seeing from Ross now. Obviously Zidane developed over time and became a truly great player. I see absolutely no reason why Ross cannot match that and even better it, why not ?

I also can't believe Zidane was offered to Newcastle for pittance when he was actually at Bordeaux back in the early 90's and Newcastle said ' He wasn't good enough for the English league ' Oopsie.

Spot on this.

Zidane was always £2.2m of champ man back then!

Also, I don't think Zidane ever scored a goal like Ross' at Newcastle.

They're a bit different in style.

There's a very minor question mark about his mental fragility, but not really.

Can't wait to see him tearing teams apart properly. It'll be about two years from now but he's going to be a weapon even now and I hope we see him into his mid twenties in a blue shirt.

Oh by the time he's 23-24 he's going to be obscenely good.

...would like him to get a goal tonight, not only to get off the mark at international level but one in the World Cup finals could do wonders for him going forward.

Difference with Wayne and Ross is that even if for some daft reason he moves on next year or whatever, I'd still be wanting to pat the lad on the back and say, "go on lad, do it".

Down to earth quiet scouser who you can't help but want the best for.
