Ross Barkley

Ross is much more direct when he plays for Everton.

He was playing a more withdrawn role today. It was 4-3-3 with 1 holding as apposed to two deep and 1 off the front man.

He still played well IMO without being that rampaging ACM. Hodgson just doesn't know how to get the best out of players.

I thought lampard looked twice as good as Gerrard has done

Am I the only one who doesn't see this? He loses the ball just as much as any other player but no more, in my opinion. It's only since Roy mentioned it, like the halfwit that he is, in his press conference, that people seem to notice this.

It's like if I tell you to think of penguins, no matter how hard you try not to, you will think of penguins. Similarly, if someone says "Barkley gives the ball away too much" you're going to take a mental of every time he gives the ball away while not noticing other players doing the same thing.

I didnt say he gives the ball away more than other players.

I said he has a habit of giving it away in dangerous areas by making the wrong decision. As i keep saying, its not a huge issue and one that can be worked on on the training ground.

Anyone (from fans to managers) shouldnt think he gives the ball away too much in general becuase of it. He doesn't.

Its highly unfortunate that Moyes and Hodgson acted and said how and what they did regarding it.

He drifts in and out of the game, he does this for us too.
Not quite sure about drifting I think its more likely he is being starved of the ball. Even today he was wanting the ball most of the time but was not given it. The last 15-20mins I thought he was knackered and did not make himself available as much and therefore hid a bit or as you say drifted out the game.

Couldn't of put it better myself

He will start dominating games from start to finish, he is still young and inexperienced.

Keep on message Christiffa you said earlier it was pointless playing 2 defensive midfield players with Barkley ffs

When he got the ball before he tried the nutmeg. "I thought, oh no" but there was a whole team behind him so it wasn't a huge risk. If it had of come off he was breaking on them with a 2 on 2. Why did he choose a nutmeg? If it comes out it totally takes a player out, going round the side doesn't do that unless they dive in.

I thought he was fine today but I would like to see him demanding the ball. There was plenty of times he was in space in the hole and wasn't found with a pretty simple pass.

There was also plenty of times he jogged/walked around too much and as a result the game at times past him by. Perhaps that was the reason he didn't tire until the last 10 mins.

However at least he didn't have Sterling's world cup, he looks a shadow of the player who started it with so much confidence.

I just think England are pretty poor, they're always looking too much time on the ball. Ross' passing was crisp and one touch when it needed to be. Too many times the rest of the team needed far too many touches and as result it always put them under pressure. Plus sometimes their passing was just shocking. I'll be honest I thought they where better than they where, it's amazing Fulham and Cardiff players look like world beaters compared to them and the media or the fans can't even be blamed. Both supported the team very well.

I don't think Roy is the man for the job. They need to get someone like Roberto who can get them playing one-touch football. Ross did it at times only for someone to the blast aimlessly forward.

btw - How bad is Smalling and Jones?

To be honest i would rather have Benson and Hedges from Mike Bassett England Manager

cannot be critical of jones performance he is all about the defense, seeing him in such advance attacking positions of the pitch like a prorper offensive fullback to just suddenly panic and throw away the ball like it's sunday

don't mean to sound negative but I was so glad to not see Barkley score, enabling thousands of pundits to rally him as the chosen one to save the world and restore former glory ! (also nice to see Shaw messed up a few times)
