Lol City will be back in the old second division in about ten years time when the plug gets pulled, and we'll have another 100 years comfortably out-performing you. That's the truth of it i'm afraid.

Look at this:

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/feb/04/manchester-city-financial-fair-play

Manchester City and PSG cannot 'cheat' financial fair play, Uefa warns
• 'They have to generate revenues without cheating'
• Two English clubs would have failed FFP this year

These clubs are being warned. Its a nonsense to think otherwise or that this will go away.

Clubs like Everton will benefit as it encourages investment in stadium and diversification in revenue.

It puts pressure on lazy clubs like Manchester City not to merely bung another 25million in from another company owned by the same owners or sell dodgy "image rights".

"Uefa did take a dim view of some aspects of the way City paid themselves nearly £50m from the sale of image rights and intellectual property to third parties."

This creative accounting is being challenged also. Next year they won't get away with that type of thing. The law will get applied proportionately.

The first time offence clubs are given a warning. Next time hit harder.

Its the same in any application of regulations like this. "principle of proportionality".

Hahahaha. Honestly, I'm going to enjoy sticking around. Remember posts on a forum are easy to dig up later on. :)

Please do. I'll be the one doing the laughing.

That one about the EU and competition law was hysterical.

"European authorities have a mandate and are pressuring UEFA"

Sorry but you haven't the first clue what you're talking about. FFP is on the line of falling foul of so many EU anti competition and restraint of trade laws it's not even funny. The EU would be delighted if FFP went away, unless you think that governments hate guys like Mansour turning up and paying hundreds of millions in taxes on the money they pump into their football clubs.

And as I said, UEFA can get out as many microscopes as they want. As of next summer we'll be turning the type of profit which will allow us to spend 100 million a summer if needs be without having any problems.

Oh God, we've not got the token City fan on here spouting the 'they can't touch us now we're rich line' have we?
I get this from my southern-accented, 'always supported them, no idea what the kippax is' colleague at work.
Like I told him...we don't care if you can afford our players, we know.
You're very rich, good for you..I'll still remember you as a yoyo club.

Lads, you can laugh it up all you want. FFP was designed to keep clubs like you in your place. We were lucky to be bought out before the regs came in. Always makes me chuckle when other team's supporters somehow think it's a hindrance for a club which is already cemented in the top 4 and in CL football.

For the lad who said "I'll still remember you as a yoyo club". We still remember ourselves as a yoyo club, and unlike others we have always been capable of laughing at ourselves. Kippax humour for want of a better phrase.

I've heard ever bitter jibe there is to hear about Oil barons, about dodgy sponsorship deals, the not at all ironic "where were you when you were [Poor language removed]" chants. We're not laughing because we're rich or because we win things. We're laughing because it's [Poor language removed] hilarious that suddenly supporters like one or two of you think that our club doesn't have exactly the same following as a club like Everton.

You want glory hunters and plastics look no further than your red neighbours, our red neighbours, or pretty much any of the big London clubs.

We're big enough to be champions mate. We're also big enough that as I say, they can pass as many FFP rules and regs as they want. We'll still continue to grow as club.

As for what you've posted above. I've neither the time nor the inclination to lecture you about FFP, and where it sits within EU law. If you are going to take as gospel something UEFA have posted on their website then I wish you the best of luck.

But ask yourself how it comes to pass that PSG have signed David Luiz for 50 million pound, or how Monaco have bought an entire team in the last few years, and aren't afraid of these regulations. If the idea is to limit what clubs like City and Paris can do, then over the long term they will fail miserably.
Think you have a point mate the reality is money talks in football just look at the nonsense of Qatar getting the world cup. Like everyone else I have no idea what Barkley's situation is but after Rooney legging it to Utd nothing would surprise me.

Despite all the stick you're getting thanks very much for preventing the apocalypse of the RS winning the title. None of us were complaining about your money then.

To be fair, even tho in some spots he comes across as a tit, overall i dont mind this lad. And lets be fair, he IS right. We've been harping on it since FFP was announced. FFP isnt designed to help clubs, its designed to keep the status quo. City got in at the right time. The only problem now is that there are 5 teams that are in the elite status for 4 spots.

I personally reckon your following has lost its edge.

I was stunned at the atmosphere for the Barca game at Eastlands last season. It was like a morgue right from kick-off. One of the weirdest games I watched last season. Turned off in the second half due to boredom.

Surely pre-takeover your fans wouldn't have been so apathetic to such an enormous game for the club?

Even the kopites, who have been spoilt rotten over the years, can still raise the roof in the champions league. Goodison would be shaking in its foundations if we ever got to play Barca at that stage of the CL.

I hope he signs a new contract pronto before the papers get wind of it. This thread is bad enough without IS ROSS BARKLEY GOING TO MAN CITY/UNITED/ARSENAL/WHOGIVESAFLYINGONE every day.

To be honest one of the biggest myths City supporters have perpetuated recent years is the wonderful atmosphere at Maine Road and how everything changed when we moved to the Etihad. We've always been an odd bunch, seemingly enjoying our failures more than our victories (probably because there were so many of the former and so few of the latter for such long periods).

I really hope you get your new stadium so you understand what i'm talking about. The atmosphere will change whether you like it or not. Decades of history with the people around you will be wiped and new people will be put in their place. You think it's bad now at the Etihad, believe me when I say I've seen worse.

I could understand what RM done by not giving him a contract straight away. It happens quite a lot to young English players they have a few decent games and bang 5 year contract and on 80k per week but I didn't know he only had 2 years left. Surely he won't leave us yet? maybe in 2 seasons but not now...

Does anyone know if his agent is sound or a bit of a wnaker?
