Ross Barkley

@The Other Blues for someone that's had a lot to say about our Ross you've been awful quit since that tweet was posted:)

I don't know why we even bother responding to speculation about Ross from the media or other clubs fans. He's already said he's staying here after Stevie GBH advised him to, and he's a massive blue too.

Contract signed by the start of the season.

I have no doubts we will sell Ross at some point.
This season looks unlikely but next summer could see Ross move for masses of dough.
I know this riles people but it's inevitable, we simply can not resist a massive offer and this won't make me feel less of Ross or even BK in truth. It's just the way of EFC in its current state, yes blame BK for not selling the club but don't blame him for getting great monies for anyone who leaves the club.

Only way we can keep Ross is if we sign Lukaku and the spine of Stones, McCarthy, Barkley and Lukaku wins us a trophy next season/gets us in the Champions League and we look like we are going places. If we are competing for trophies/champions league he has no reason to leave his boyhood club. If we drop back to 7th place also rans then he'll be off.

I see Stevie me la has announced his retirement from the England team. 6 months late if you ask me. Step up Barkley, he should be captain by the next world cup. (itl probably be a fat Rooney though)

Rooney will be 32 by the time of the next World Cup and he barely made the starting lineup for this one plus he won't be starting for utd or probably even at utd by then. I can't see him going.

I also don't think Sturridge will be the main striker either. He's not good enough and without Suarez I think he'll be average next year.

I think England will go through a lot of changes but probably not until after the Euros and Roy goes.

I think you've taken something i've said wrong. When I said earlier "it'll happen" in regards to Barkley, I simply meant City bidding for him. Just like I think Everton will bid for Lukaku. Long way from that to the player coming to City. Maybe United fans think it's a foregone conclusion when they go to sign players, but that's certainly not how I think.

I did say earlier that it's difficult for non CL clubs to keep players generally when CL clubs come knocking, but that's a much broader comment about football across Europe. It wasn't meant as some sort of barb about how City will definitely get Ross because I just don't think that as I say. With Martinez in charge, it'll only take Kenwright loosening the purse strings enough to allow him to build in key areas and you'll be a CL club yourselves.

About perspective from the "pre billionaire days", can you actually explain that comment? I'm curious as to what you mean. I remember being beaten by Oxford on a horrible Saturday in November nearly 20 years ago. There wasn't enough tequila in Manchester to kill the pain that night. I don't even want to think about those days. I'm not one of those who laments what City used to be. We were a joke a club, a yoyo club as someone else on here described. The damage Swales and then Lee did, could've finished us for good. Hell even that Thai despot did his best to drive is into administration, which we were literally days from the day we were bought. My perspective is right now we've never had it so good and I'm grateful Sheikh Mansour came along. I won't say we deserve it, but I've seen enough absolute bollocks that i've paid for the privilege of to not feel guilty about loving every minute of our current success.

Have to be honest, that was a very fair and honest clarification. If that's genuine then you have an honest apology from myself for misinterpreting you.

The reason why you've had a reaction in the way that you've had is because of what we have to listen to as Everton fans. 100's of articles every year in the media about out players going to United/Arsenal/Chelsea/City etc. written in a fashion that suggests Everton don't even have a say in the matter. A huge chunk of football fans from the elite clubs including a good portion of city fans (albeit more than likely recent acquisitions of the fan base) have this same view as it's what everybody is bombarded with in the papers. It get's frustrating to hear to listen to and I guess when someone comes on talking about an 'inevitable bid', the comment is read in this context.

As far as my comment about the pre-billionaire days, this is all i meant essentially. City fans have a unique perspective because the wealth has been acquired so recently. 10 years ago, if city unearthed a talent in their academy like Ross Barkley the papers and the fans of the big teams would have acted in the same way (he's going, it's inevitable etc etc).

Anyway, just as an FYI, i don't begrudge Man City the money that they have now and you seem like a genuine fan. I just hope you can understand now why people reacted in the way they did originally (the overall context when it comes to transfers and Everton) and unfortunately things devolved a bit from there.
