We sold him yet ?
Hopefully. Cant have a player on our books who doesn't want to be here. Nows the time to cash in while his stock is high.We sold him yet ?
the day Ross leaves, Kenwright will be right behind him.
Selling him shows a lack of ambition.
Have to be honest, that was a very fair and honest clarification. If that's genuine then you have an honest apology from myself for misinterpreting you.
The reason why you've had a reaction in the way that you've had is because of what we have to listen to as Everton fans. 100's of articles every year in the media about out players going to United/Arsenal/Chelsea/City etc. written in a fashion that suggests Everton don't even have a say in the matter. A huge chunk of football fans from the elite clubs including a good portion of city fans (albeit more than likely recent acquisitions of the fan base) have this same view as it's what everybody is bombarded with in the papers. It get's frustrating to hear to listen to and I guess when someone comes on talking about an 'inevitable bid', the comment is read in this context.
As far as my comment about the pre-billionaire days, this is all i meant essentially. City fans have a unique perspective because the wealth has been acquired so recently. 10 years ago, if city unearthed a talent in their academy like Ross Barkley the papers and the fans of the big teams would have acted in the same way (he's going, it's inevitable etc etc).
Anyway, just as an FYI, i don't begrudge Man City the money that they have now and you seem like a genuine fan. I just hope you can understand now why people reacted in the way they did originally (the overall context when it comes to transfers and Everton) and unfortunately things devolved a bit from there.
Cheers for that. As I said earlier in the thread somewhere, I remember vividly the SWP to Chelsea saga. I know how frustrating it is, but to be honest it's no different now. Aguero's been going to Barca/Real since the summer he arrived, same with Silva. Apparently Toure's off to anywhere he wants because he hasn't had enough cake in the last three years. (200k a week buys a lot of cake, but still he needs more). I've just listened to an hour of TalkShite going on about how terribly Micah Richards has been treated and how we've ruined his career. This is the same Richards who hasn't been fit for two years, who got given a huge new contract, only to proceed in doing his best impression of Nando's favourite customer. I guess what i'm trying to say is we all have our crosses to bare.
I think Barkley's tweet all but kills any speculation about his immediate future. If I were you lot though, I'd be imploring him to get a new contract signed. Football's a sewer pit when money becomes involved and Ross is rep'ed by one of the biggest swinging phalluses in world football.
@bizzaro mate, I know where I am with Financial Fair Play. You have to remember we've had a vested interest in the potential sanctions for a few years now. City's books are available online so it's not been difficult to see what direction we're heading in, and how we stand with respect to those sanctions. If you have somehow conned yourself into thinking that UEFA are Machiavellian geniuses who have along with the existing cartel found a way to stop Sheikh Mansour, Abramovich, QSI, etc that's your business. Like I said earlier City will turn a healthy profit this summer. By next summer the profit will have gone up again as the commercial deals continue to pile up. Those deals are only possible because we are consistently in the CL. This is why FFP is such a ridiculous set of rules and why it's supporters of clubs like Everton who should be up in arms about it. It's a one summer pinch for City. It means something altogether different for the other premiership clubs. Plenty of much smarter people than me have written essays on why FFP is bad for English football at the highest level and why it's nothing more than a means to ensure the existing hegemony remains unchallenged.
I actually agree with you in regards to FFP, but remember that Everton have been up for sale for over 10 years apparently and we are yet to get investment! So I think in regards to FFP our fans just don't want any other average mid table teams getting taken over that can push us further down the table due to oil money. So at the moment - as it stands, we are fine with the regulations.Cheers for that. As I said earlier in the thread somewhere, I remember vividly the SWP to Chelsea saga. Pull the other one. You didn't even know where FFP came from.
Has come back earlier than Jags & Baines and will be on the Thailand trip.
