I'd be more excited but in my opinion contracts aren't worth that much once a boss agent gets their teeth into a player...

Anyone who doesn't sign a contract either wants to leave or is at least thinking about it. For that reason its exciting (Ross is happy at EFC)

This was always going to happen. You can judge certain players and there was absolutely no danger of Barkley moving this summer, or indeed next.

That's why the nonsense spouted by @The Other Blues was just that - nonsense. I understand contracts aren't worth much these days and there's no sentiment behind what I'm saying; the fact was this is a kid brought through at Everton who had no reason to move and Everton had no reason to sell.

Yes very true.

I suppose it's more of a "ha! look!" to the media who would love Ross to hop off to United etc..

I was kind of hoping Ross would walk out with a signed contract in one hand, and a model stadium in the other...

Thought I should put these quotes in this thread too:

“I realise the importance of signing because I remember how I felt when Wayne left. He was one of the best players in the team and we thought we could push on with him at Everton. When he left we were all down as Evertonians. I just wanted to sign and hopefully we can push Everton on together.”

“I’ve got a long way to go to be an Everton legend. Hopefully one day I am but I’m just concentrating on doing everything right in training and on the pitch.”
