The ultimate irony being that Martinez has been super protective of the players over pre-season, particularly of the ones who went to the WC.

Now, just a day before the season kicks off, one of our most important players' knee explodes in training and he's out for 2 months already..

Unreal.

It seemed like his original post was suggesting they get lucky with injuries. I was saying I don't think they do, particularly.

They do have a big squad, but that's not luck, that's having a lot of money.
Yeah but getting lucky with injuries isn't just not getting them, it's getting them to the "right" people, and at the right times.

Lallana went down for 8 weeks, but it was several weeks before the season, so he'll miss less games, and he also won't hurt them too much by not being there.

The equivalent of Ross's injury for them would be Sturridge (their one position with minimal cover) going down for 8 weeks

My mistake, I mean I'd take Naismith out and have Pienaar and Mirallas feeding off Lukaku. Have the 3 central midfielders bossing things in the middle.

Mirallas and Lukaku have GOT to play. Who's arsed if they're not match-fit? Play them and get them match-fit then! They're not carrying injuries I presume? Unless that's the case then a player should be classed as available.
