Ross Barkley

I'm gonna get dry bummed for this but Barkley isnt ready for the PL full time yet. He has some lovely signs that he has an attacking football brain but he's also shown that he's naive. He gives the ball away too much, makes too many sloppy passes and his recovery doesn't match his mistakes. Its just not quite all there yet. I'm all up for a 12 month loan to a decent championship team where he can make the mistakes for them, cost them points. Lets face it, we have plenty in our squad who can do that job better at the moment, ie ship less goals than they score/make bit in 12 months after some develppment and gametime, he could be the daddy. There, I've said it,

Nothing at all wrong with this post, Arch. In fact, it's spot on.

Barkley may not be ready just yet, but whenever I see him play he just oozes that class of a world class player. He'll make it.

Yep I'd go with that. I just don't want him loaned to a bunch of cloggers in the Championship/League One.

I think he can develop with the first team squad, getting increasingly more minutes as the season goes on, or he can go to a good side with a winning mentality. Celtic would be ace.

We're going to be playing 40 plus games this season, he'll get more chances if he stays here but it's up to him to take them. A six month loan to the Championship or League 1 and he'll play more, and he probably won't be under quite the same expectation as he is now.
Just a thought, did Rooney play cause he was too good to keep on the bench or because we where crap/desperate?

A hearty combination of both mate.

I recall Walter Smith saying he tried to play him at 15. That's how desperate we were xD

We were terrible mate.

Assuming he'd be first choice at Celtic, the sheer thought of him playing against Barcelona makes my head spin. I don't mean that in a bad way either. Those are the sort of experiences that make or break a player, metaphorically speaking.

Let's not forget a potential game in the snow against Billy, too.

Agree with this, I thought he looked decent against Orient but at times looked like he still lacked the confidence to play his natural game and had to 'think' about what to do and got caught out whilst thinking.

Why we wouldn't send him on loan I have no idea.

A team like Wednesday, Ipswich etc... perfect.

I would think he may go by the end of the day or in the next week or so. I think finding the right club for him and also that our squad numbers are thin. So if we sign a couple of players today we could well see him going on loan for 3/6 months.

People worrying about him playing against 'cloggers'? If some grock goes through the back of him in the first minute, you can be guaranteed his game will sharpen up almost overnight.

Did you all know hes eligible to play for Nigeria at international level ( dont ask me how ) don't you think Woy should call him for a game as in the future he could have amazing talent and surely england could do with that ...

Im all for Barkely going out on loan but why didnt we send him out last season?! Instead of playing in the reserves and in the under-18s he could have been getting valuable experience in the lower leagues? It seems to me like a year of development has essentially been wasted...
