Ross Barkley

When I did my medial diagnosis was immediate pretty much - however with slight meniscus tears and soft tissue damage the swelling does take longer to go down despite a quicker recovery time ! Just saying like !

I rarely ponder or speculate too much on these things but maybe if we are looking for a playmaker type, whether we were looking anyway or just since the injury, then announcing a long layup for Ross would push up the prices.

Hope not!

..even if I really want to think we are looking for a playmaker.

“The length that Ross will be out is a little uncertain at the moment and it could be anything between the eight weeks that we mentioned or a little further. Until the end of the week, or probably the next 10 days, we won’t know how the knee is progressing and how quickly Ross can be back.”

@Bizo?

Grade II tears

If you over extend it too early you stretch the ligament during healing.

This causes pain in the knee during extension. and slows recovery. Since he'll have problems kicking a ball.

He's just saying they have to monitor it for that reason. Otherwise its 8 weeks.

He's just being careful as the rehab is key

He clearly said:

"At the moment his knee is in a brace and this is a very important period of rehabilitation, making sure that the ligament can be repaired in a good position. Obviously we are going to get further updates in days to come but we need to leave Ross alone and leave him to recover."

Its looking good and we just need to take it carefully in the rehab which should be starting any time now. In the next week.

The positioning is all about not stretching the ligament during healing.

People should keep in mind that the clubs efforts to keep us informed about his progress will have zero bearing on his recovery time. I know we all want to know, but I don't see how letting us know more or withholding information benefits the team in any way.
