Neil Warnock coming out with some absolute tosh about Ross on talk sport. No wonder he is an abysmal manager. He belongs with all the other dinosaurs and is displaying the exact sort of attitude that stops England from winning anything. Roll on another tournament of watching yard dogs like Milner Henderson and Delph chasing the shadows of international midfielders.

Live in Aus mate... What was he saying?

Basically saying Ross has no defensive instinct, you have to carry him in your team as a luxury player, he'll do pirouettes and drag backs in his own half if you give him the ball etc. Roy would be better going with a more disciplined defensive player. Warnock has obviously not watched Ross this season, his ball retention has been brilliant apart from when trying things in the final third.

What Warnock says is basically what is wrong with English football. They are terrified of flair players looking at there weaknesses rather than the strengths. If a flair player has a weakness then he is deemed as no good. Defence is first and foremost and that's why flair players are few and far between. Hence, why England are light years behind in technique.

Sounds like more than a few of our posters, neville fans and the like, it's disgraceful isn't it mate, the same people will complain England can't compete with nations who actually put trust in technique and flair, and then put no trust in it themselves, it's no just dinosaur managers like Warnock, a huge amount of british fans are dinosaurs, look at them getting on ross's back last season, the same fans will buzz off hibbert smashing the ball out of play, the whole of British football needs serious re-education including large parts of it's fan base

Hodgson had Wilshere, Barkley and Oxlade Chamberlain on the bench last World Cup. Apparently Gerrard Henderson and Milner despite failing in the euros were a better option though. Lo and behold we got exactly the same result. English sport in general is exactly the same. We experiment in qualifiers letting people think we're going to trust young attacking talent, but as soon as a game of note arrives English coaches fall back on safety first conservative defensive experience.

I think he's just saying that you can't play him as one of the two in front of a back four, you either go 4-3-3 or play him behind the striker. Which is exactly the way Martinez has been playing him to be fair.
