Ross Barkley

Methinks the barcodes would offer top dollar mate, they always have. They are still not used to how money works up there.

I could see them paying 140k a week for Ross.

Well,Moyes has said that Sunderlands top earner will still be at the club next season, in the Championship. Not Defoe. Rodwell £60 grand a week.It must be the whole of the North East that doesn't understand money !!

a) you have no idea what's being offered
b ) regardless of sums involved bullying is bullying is bullying. Something tells me that if this was Duncan Ferguson and not Ross Barkley the Dutchman would pipe down pronto.

I can see why you are saying it but imho it's more a case of ambivalence. I'm not sure Koeman thinks Ross is right or not for the team so he isn't throwing him out but he's not trying that hard to keep him either.

I could be wrong, but I would imagine Koeman would act similar to anyone in the same position. What's the worst that can happen, Duncan lays on the nut and he leaves anyway...

*dreams*

So would you keep a local player who may or may not be good enough, simply because they're local?

I'm not sure that's the best move. I get your point, kids love him, but is he good enough for wherever want to get to?
Obviously if he's not good enough then no, we've had many who haven't been, but it's been evident the 2nd half of the season that we're a better team with him playing. Also bear in mind that he's had to shoulder the responsibility as our main creative force within a team which lacks movement off the ball.

For me the jury's still out on that but overall I'd still keep him for EL squad depth.

Just if he goes, he's replaceable.

I agree he's replaceable, everyone is, but as a statement of the Everton we aspire to be with our greater investment I believe its important that players with talent from the academy are only replaced by others who are far better. None of the potential Barkley replacements I've heard mentioned fall into this bracket.

laughable this, who do you replace him with?
Barkley is a very good premier league player, not one of the so called players you lot are salivating over is better than him.
Every player who has been linked is swerving us, there must be a reason for that?
However you lot continue to try and offload him... Everton that

Barkley is too young to owe anyone anything other than sorting this out as soon as possible. Is he staying or going? I wouldn't say most of the fans 'stood by him' either.

He made his first team debut 6 years ago. He's been a regular first team squad member for the last 4 seasons.

He's got a song all about him that fans sing all the time and there's a massive bespoke Barkley banner that's appeared at numerous games in the last 12 months.

He's been adored, far more than Lukaku has.

So much support? I didn't hear/see this 'support' last season and the 1st half of this season. Perhaps your definition of 'support' is different to mine.

Evidently it is.

Barkley is a good lad. I don't know him personally and he doesn't strike me as one of the great minds of the 21st century, but he has kept quiet and played through the nonsense. I applaud him for being ambitious, and people need to realize any big move is a risk. He is not guaranteed playing time and I think he accepts that. We as a club need to strive for champions league regardless of what happens. Good luck Ross

I don't think he's guaranteed playing time at Everton next season, if we get the players we probably want to get.

Him keeping quiet can be a negative too - quiet on the pitch isn't always a good thing. Quiet off the pitch when the manager is publicly expressing frustration with him to make his mind up over signing a contract isn't good either.

Good luck to the lad if he wants to leave but I'm with Groucho - Barkley is replaceable and I don't think he'll get a starting place at another club as good or as big as Everton.

They paid Michael Owen 110k before the TV deal really boomed. (& that was the Owen that was nowhere near the one that played for RS)

I don't think they think that they will be going down and to keep on the FSW they must have promised him lots of cash to spend. They have always had a large wage bill (higher than us) and Shelvey was on 70 to 80k depending on what source you take it from in the championship. Which I believe is higher than our largest earner.

The good thing is we don't have to wait long to see. :)

Under Ashley - no. We have a higher wage bill, and have players on more than Shelvey. They didn't even have the highest wage bill in the championship. (Villa)

They aren't gonna be paying anyone 100k per week.

Laughable? Knock it off mate, drop the attitude.

I actually said I'd prefer to keep him if you read on but never mind.
