Ross Barkley

What's everyone's thoughts on this highly unlikely scenario...

Spurs want Barkley (likely if what we see in the press is true)

Say we tried to get them to swap us with Evertonian Eric Dier?

Would you be happy? Would it could it ever happen?

I don't get Dier as a player, average holding mid, average centreback, average RB, extremely good RCB of a back three. Unless we play a back 3 regularly he's a waste of money in my view.

But Barkley said: “I never thought about it. This contract means everything for me. It is my dream to play for Everton. This is the club I love and I see it as home. We’ve got to push on now and one of the objectives is the Champions League.

“I realise the importance of signing because I remember how I felt when Wayne left. He was one of the best players in the team and we thought we could push on with him at Everton. When he left we were all down as Evertonians. I just wanted to sign and hopefully we can push Everton on together.”

The Wavertree-born midfielder said: “I’ve got a long way to go to be an Everton legend. Hopefully one day I am but I’m just concentrating on doing everything right in training and on the pitch.”

Things have sure changed from then

You must be torn between your bromance with "Ronk" and your view on Barkley.

Not really.

Ronnys just playing the game, you have to realise that he knows more than us, he knows the figures on the table and he knows which other clubs are interested, hes also spoken to Ross, so he knows what Ross wants to do.

Like Lukaku, the club is letting the fans know that theres contracts on the table and both players are refusing to sign them, for whatever reason.

Ronny is simply putting the club first, sign the deal or koff, im on Ronnys side, I think at this point its pretty clear that Ross wont be staying, so hes dead to me from sunday.

And how on earth does the message to the fans help matters in terms of 'getting the best deal for the club'?

The best deal for the club?

What is the best deal for the club Dave? I mean, is allowing a player to bend us over and call the shots "The best deal for the club?", is allowing a slimy arse bandit of an agent to call the shots "The best deal for the club?".

"The best deal for the club?" you havent got a clue what that even is.

When this is done, when its all over, that will be the "The best deal for the club".

Deals are best done by experts in private. If he's going then he's going. The only thing to determine is whether you do it to the advantage of your club. If you can tell me what advantage is gained by Koeman flapping his gums in public about the situation I'll withdraw my criticism of how he's (mis)handing this.
