Genuinely believe that he's leaving under the guise of wanting a step up/champions league but actually its because he's not enjoying playing here anymore. I doubt he'll succeed if a team above us buys him and he'll quickly find himself on the bench, but he also wouldn't go to anyone below us. I'm fairly indifferent to him leaving now, and if he does leave (which I think he won't, as it happens), it'll work out worse for him than us.
It's a contract negotiation.
Figures have a hell of a lot to do with it.
A contract offered is only a piece of the info. What kind of contract? Reasonable? A bit low? Bang on the money?
We also don't know much about the actual working relationship between them.
Lots of unknowns really.

Why not? He'll get games over a 50+ game a season. They'll have bought him for something, believe in what he can offer and a higher level.

If he goes, so be it, I'll support whoever is brought in to replace him. It's sad Ross hasn't said anything about signing or going (obvious to me he's going, but I'd love to be wrong) and I can almost see parallels in the silence when Rooney (IMO) was trying to get the club to offer him for sale (lots of media "will he go/stay" stuff as I recall) and in the end he had to put in a transfer request. If Ross wants to go, he should say, Ronk seems to have tried forcing to do something, anything, and is resigned to him going. Whatever happens, we'll still be Everton

I for one embrace condescending posts. Anyways, like you said, a contract is being negotiated. It appears that Koeman is trying to make this public to pressure Barkley to sign while Barkley is waiting for a better offer from Everton. This type of thing happens all the time, but because of Barkley's Everton ties, he is judged differently than others. / shrugs

The situation could be as simple as that really, just gone on longer and later than normal. Most seem to have discounted this in favour of villifying the player though.
We will all see soon enough.

It's human nature to jump to conclusions. The truth is, we know very little. I for one am a 'massive tit' because I don't think Koeman is entirely innocent. This could have been handled better.
