Players want success and lots of money. If the opportunity arises to move on, they'll take it. You're either not good enough and you get moved on to a lesser team, are in the middle state of progression (The team are happy with where you are, so are you with where the team is) or you get a sniff about the possibility of success and more money. If the team aren't succeeding and you 'think' you're better, you look for a move.
Players are fickle. Fans are fickle. When Ross was playing well before last year's european championships I was championing him for an England spot and lamenting his omission. It was a time of where people messaged him plenty of "Never leave Ross".
A year later, no signs of real progression from him. The pressure ramps up. Barkley starts the season well. Doesn't get an England look in still. Deletes his England instagram pictures. Hilarious, but a rather telling attitude and response. Starts getting benched. Sees Lukaku linked with a move away. Starts wondering what he's doing here.
And suddenly, just like that, you have a boyhood blue, our 'Diamond' who had so much promise, who we were meant to build a team around, essentially messing the club he supports around. And then it gets to a stage where the majority of fans are not bothered whether he stays or goes, in fact a large proportion are through with him all together.
It's no shock, it happens to every club in world football. It's more perplexing when the player in question is an avid supporter of the club. This club has too many players who are not good enough. Over the years we've had some of our best talents leave, and we could have what was our 3 key talents leave in a year. You can be bothered by that fact, or accept it. What the team lacks the most is those players who see what we can achieve, and Koeman is dictating that himself.
If you're half arsed and are considering whether you want to be here leave. If you're not good enough, we want you to leave. If you want to give 100% every game regardless of where you've come from or where you want to be, then you're what we want.
Sorry it's come to this Ross, truly. But you're not as good as you think you are. We want you to stay. We want you do to better here. But if you're not getting better, if you're having reservations, we're not going to wait, and we are not arsed.
