Think he has an issue with Koeman and how he has been unforgiving towards Barkley in particular. He probably wants some assurances about his role in the side and that is what Koeman can't give him. Barkley himself is also to blame for his inconsistencies and a weak mentality in big games. Given we'll probably get another no 10 in the summer, Barkley probably is wondering how much game time he can get in the future and if this is where he can develop as a player. He has had 3 seasons in the PL and has hardly improved. Koeman has ran out of patience and cannot keep waiting for Barkley to learn and develop. He is willing to keep him in the side based on his talent but to me he has set sights on a new no 10 who is more creative on the ball instead of a simple, powerful but inconsistent dribbler like Barkley.
