Ross Barkley

You can't demand £50m after publicly waving a white flag and admitting we need to offload the player due to giving stupid deadlines and publicising our weakness. So at least that part by the Mirror is nonsense.

We'll get half of that, but should have been closer to £35-40m.

hardly the sign of a new era is it? when one of your best players refuses to sign a new contract worth £100k a week, clearly he has no faith in the Everton project and who can blame him with cuckoo Martina lined up, surely you people are starting to realise this isnt what Kenwright and Moshiri promised? clearly Ross has sussed the frauds out

...or perhaps Koeman has sussed Barkley out which has upset the player. We need good players and Barkley is one of those but there appears a disjoint between the Manager and player for whatever reason. It's a shame if he goes but such things happen.

Ross couldn't suss out a jigsaw

Also, it wouldn't surprise me if his agent had something to do with this i.e being after a payout.

Everton have offered what they think he's worth. It's not Moshiri's fault, if Arsenal are in the wings willing to pay £150k a week.

You'd have thought being an Evertonian, £100k a week would have been enough. Obviously not.

Calling eastern Caribbean folk "cuckoos" is extremely insensitive. It's been used as a slur on them for years and literally means unfaithful tramps.

..I agree. The reality is that we don't really know the reason why the lad isn't re-signing but it doesn't necessarily have to be the clubs or somebody within the clubs fault. Project Everton and a move to a new ground could take many years and the likes of Lukaku and Barkley might want much more immediate change to fulfil their ambitions. Players will continue to leave until we are successful, that is the reality.

When you go away with England and the lads get talking, that's when you change. When you find out what Delle Ali is earning at Spurs and what bonus scheme he is on, you might begin to think "Why am I only getting xxxx a week?" Ali is a better footballer but is in a better team. Ross is not far off in terms of ability and would shine in that Spurs team.

Not just Ali but imagine 6 or 7 of them all go together one evening, do you honestly think they aren't gonna discuss their wages? Don't be naïve, they are young lads earning a fortune. Even on a smaller scale, a bunch of lads under 24 who work as plumbers, sparkies, gas fitters, offshore, whatever. They'll talk about their pay and how to make more money, they'll talk about their future prospects. Out of that group you'll get one lad who'll think "I want to look into becoming an electrician, I need to learn the wiring regs and go on a course" etc etc. You'll also get someone in that group saying "You should have a look into getting into my industry, they pay good, the work is good blah blah" I think you all get what I'm talking about and it's no different from footballers. They are young and it is natural to talk about what they are getting, what it's like playing in the Champions League, going to finals, playing in high pressure games. Once lads from other clubs speak up about how much they're enjoying their football, working with xxxx, playing at xxxx, you are gonna start thinking about it, you are gonna turn up at finch farm in a stinking mood because you feel you are missing out on something somewhere else. You've been driving to the same training ground for six years, when football is on a global scale and there is opportunities everywhere.

If you work with somebody who has the same experience and the same job title but earns more, what do you do?
