Incredible that you think the level of clubs that will be seriously looking at him, will have £35-£40m to just stump up out of nowhere (please don't be silly and suggest Spurs or United want him)

He's an England international attacking midfielder with a degree of pedigree in his technique.

The likes of Ozil, Herrera and Ramsey have contracts that expire next year - they're not suddenly worth a fiver because of it.

And yes, I believe Spurs and United will be seriously looking at him. He's a very good player, whether that upsets you because of this situation or not.

Maybe he is waiting to see who we sign .. to see the clubs ambition is real like we all hope. Maybe he'll sign mid august after a couple of top players are in the squad.

No mate, don't be reasonable - he has disrespected the club, is a Judas and should have signed when Ronald gave him an ultimatum in public like he's a naughty schoolboy and binned his agent off because he's a bloo. That's the narrative now, please stick to it.

You say "England international" like he's played for them in the past two years.

It doesn't upset me whatsoever, because I know he's not going to either of those teams. He wouldn't come close to getting a starting place at either, especially not after this summer when United have potentially signed Griezmann and James Rodriguez. Deluded if you think Barkley is in that sort of company tbh.

It's this simple.

Michael Keane is out of contract in 2018, and Burnley have slapped £25m on him regardless. Oxlade-Chamberlain has fizzled out in his development at Arsenal, contract expires in 2018, can't get a game in his natural role, and they are still demanding £35m to entertain talks.

People are saying we should have the same valuation for Ross Barkley as Michael Keane at Burnley and a approx. a third less than Ox at Arsenal.

It's lunacy. He's obviously worth far more than £25m in this market and those not seeing it are talking out their ring piece.

But the point is, that clearly no one is going to pay £40-50m for him. Are we in a position to let him go for free next summer rather than take the best offer on the table at the moment? I could certainly see a West Ham or Newcastle throwing £25m at him, looking at their signings of late. Ayew cost West Ham £20m, We could probably push them to £30m for Barkley as he's obviously better than him. Would you not take that if it was offered?

No, I'd hold him and set the lowest acceptable offer in private of around £35m, but only accept that as the deadline approaches. I have no doubts whatsoever we'd get at least £35m for him before the window ends, easily.

You are looking at West Ham/Newcastle when they aren't even in the discussion.

Spurs or United have not even given the slightest indication that they'd be interested in him. They're as much part of the discussion as West Ham or Newcastle at the moment.

True that, Newcastle/West Ham wont be spending that kind of money, 25m is about right, if we get more its well played Everton, saying that we have mugged clubs off a lot in the past so anything is possible

Gareth Southgate says otherwise, agree on your point about Ozil...etc but those players have something that Ross hasnt got, applied footballing ability

They're really not though. But I'm not surprised you think that given you "know" he's not going to Spurs or United for some reason.

Our fans are ridiculous when it comes to Barkley, truly ridiculous.

We'll just have to see if he ends up there then won't we. Would you agree, he would have an incredibly hard time getting near either team after they've both completed their intended business for the summer?

I'm not sure I care anymore about this saga..

I want us to bring in 3 decent new signings.. not cover. If Ross goes add 1 more, for Romelu add another 2 (so 4-6 depending on those 2).

Yet he created as many or more chances for us this season than the leading 'creative' footballers in the division, including Mesut Ozil.

No "applied footballing ability" though, clearly.

I used Alli as an example, it wasn't a direct comparison
I don't know how much Alli gets, it was an example, I didn't mention Alli's wage. Where in my post did I mention his wage? I meant across the set-up, the young lads, the flash harries.
My post does make sense, you're reading it wrong.
It doesn't matter if the players are international regulars, when you get talking or are mixing with a different group of players your mind can always be put in doubt. "I want what he's getting" syndrome. It's human nature
How can ROSS claim the same wages as english international team regulars
He's not one and never has been.
He may as well claim the same money as Rooney 350k a week
He's not worth the big money he seems to think he is.
Even if he stays next season he won't be guaranteed his place which is rightly so for every player
