Ross Barkley

Your theory is plausible. I just believe there is more to this than Ross holding out for a better contract.

Sort of agree with you there but, agents get involved and stuff happens. I think someone mentioned he has the same agency firm as RK, which is a bit bizarre.
Maybe, him and RK just don't get along? That's fair enough, it happens. Wouldn't explain why he wasn't offered a contract before RK got the job though, so who knows?

Your answer might be the 'simplest' but, there is an alternative..
The club have, belatedly, offered him a contract because they don't want to lose out on the transfer fee.
Ross wants to stay and be a part of a successful Everton team, he's good enough and deserves it.
He thinks playing for Everton has served him well so far, he's played well for England (anybody reply with "he didn't get picked by".. the likes of Roy Hodgson, Sam Allardyce and Gareth Southgate, should lower their heads).
He thinks, by not signing the contract, he will get offered more and maybe RK will shut up and stop talking about him.
Everton and the players will know his stance, a path trodden so many times before and with the blessing of many a player.
Ross is the player he and many, many others think he is. The bottom line is that until it's a done deal, he's still an Everton player and hopefully, is until after RK (does a good short term job and moves on, which he will) goes.

On a different note, as much as history suggests Koeman will be off in 2 years time, I've gotta feeling he'll be here for a while.

Unless we're 14th by Christmas and he's sacked of course...

I just can't see the club playing hardball with Ross over a contract. It's not in the club's or Ross's best interests to do that. The club are generally really good at getting contracts over the line and certainly don't have any recent history of undervaluing a players worth.
Ross has seen Stones and Lukaku depart for clubs above us and he sees himself in that bracket. I doubt Koeman has time for players who don't want to play for him, which explains his demeanour towards anything related to Ross.
Fair play to Ross. If he has ambitions of joining a regular top 4 club then who are we to begrudge him. The point I'm making is that everything points towards Ross being the instigator here. As far as I'm concerned, Everton and Ronald Koeman have been more than fair with Ross and have done nothing wrong.

What makes you think he'll stay?
He said that Rom should move on to better things. I'm assuming he feels the same?
If we, hopefully, do well with his team/players, other 'bigger' clubs will want him and I think he'll jump ship.
If, we don't do well then he'll jump ship via the gang plank as you say.
?

Not buying them figures, he has to be worth 25m in todays market but problem we have is because he wont sign we are going to have to take a low ball offer right at the end of the window unless someone comes in but even then Ross might not go for the offer unless he gets the wages, hes a problem we really could do without

Just think it'll be steady progress for us rather than miracles in next couple of years so the offers from bigger clubs will be a good few years down the line.

Rom's now on about double what we offered him (allegedly). That move wasn't about wages though, so slightly different.
Rom didn't want to play for him, he left and with the managers good wishes?
Everton would've been fairer to Ross if we'd/they'd offered a deal earlier. RK could've been fairer by not talking about him all the time?
I don't know, I have my opinion and can see why others have theirs but, I'd hate to see Ross playing for another team and hope this can be sorted.

Has anyone here ever dropped thier mobile down the toilet? After a few seconds of despair you come to the realisation that you have to reach in to the murky waters & retrieve your treasured device.
Once grabbed you check it works then relief descends upon you. All is well until when it's dried out, you put it to your face & realise it's been in the toilet & your really not wanting your phone anymore & your convinced you can still smell it.

Ross Barkley is that phone.

Surprised you say that, because I feel if we got the likes of a Giroud, a decent CB and cover at LB, we'll have improved our team more than those above us. There is still an open transfer window though, so things can/will change.

If the waters are murky, you're obviously dehydrated. Drink more water and less beer.

This Barkley impasse just makes me sad. I felt this kid was our future. Many theories being mentioned think it's just a case of Ross being sick of the constant pressure he is being put under at Everton, I don't buy this Koeman doesn't want him stuff, he played him for the majority of last season. We can't be letting him run out his contract and if we think we are going to milk Daniel Levy we have another thing coming. My guess is £20m around deadline day.

This is another thing. Koeman didn't voluntarily blab about Barkley. Koeman was bombarded with questions about Barkley at every media event. The manager gave a straight answer. I didn't once hear him bad mouth Ross. Ideally, none of this should've happened, but it has. People love playing the blame game when things don't go they way they wanted, hence people trying to labe Koeman as a bully. Utter rubbish.
In my humble opinion, Ross has made it clear to the club that he sees his future elsewhere and thats the end of it.
