Ross Barkley

So are the links to urinated and Chelski helpful in making Spurs pay more? Or are the rumoured links (today on BBC) just us pretending they are interested to force Spurs hand?

Whatever, I'm sorry to say, it is goodbye to Ross Barkley - another Everton star that will disappear into mediocrity once he leaves Goodison.

Ross is not in a very strong position..although it may not seem that way.
I don't think Spurs will come close to paying what Everton are looking for and the best hope for a transfer is interest from other clubs pushing up the price... we may actually appreciate interest from clubs like West Ham and Stoke for once. I don't think Everton will sell at a knock down price to anyone.

If Ross is still with us after the window closes then he has a real problem . I think RK is planning his team around Ross leaving the club and will leave Ross rot in the reserves for the season, which would be a disaster for his career. It would mean missing out on a full season and his international career disappearing as well.
Agree 100% with first part. If he does stay, which I believe is possible if nobody comes close to matching our value, then I think Ross will knuckle down. He wont want to be sidelined in WC year. Koeman is a pragmatic man and wont ignore a player like Ross IF he is showing the right attitude. The fans will get behind him too. We moan and groan but at the end of the day we do appreciate players putting in a shift.

If spur's only want to pay £15 million. Is it even worth selling him?
Why not just keep him for another year and if he wants to go on a free by the end of next season then so be it.
It is a world cup year so Ross will have to put all this to one side and put the effort in to try and get a place at the world cup.
Also from his point of view a good season for him and being availible on a free could attract all sorts of interest.

I don't think they are. The reason they are all interested is they can all sniff a bargain. His stalling on a contract is now starting to make more sense. His agent must have gone to him a couple of months ago and said'Jeez, they're all after you! ' and our dumbbell midfielder thinks he's got the world at his feet, little realising he's the new Momo Sissoko

Either he goes at a knockdown price, which we should not do, or he signs with a release clause.

If he's still here and the team is doing well we are in the box seat for the 1st 3 months in terms of contract negotiations.

Quite frankly he's gone.

The other outcome in this scenario, is that Ross becomes part of the new Everton and signs the contract extension. I think there is a lot more to play out in this sage and I feel no outcome is anywhere near certain.

People saying the fact he genuinely has a groin injury has changed their mind and they think he will stay now...

Does it affect his ability to hold a pen and sign a new contract? The only thing that's changed is instead of leaving now, he'll be leaving on deadline day.

He's gone. The contract would've been signed by now. No doubt about it. Just hope we can get him shipped out sooner rather than have the headache of him hanging around until Jan and his price dropping dramatically.

Well, he appears to do most of his thinking with that area, so maybe.

Why do we do this? Every time we have a good player we talk them up and then throw them down. Tthen when they leave we laugh at them and say they're nowhere near as good as they think they are. Barkley and Lukaku have both had it this window, it just comes across as petty and embarrassing.

I remember everyone laughing at Fellaini and saying he'd be found out at United and end up playing for Wigan or Blackburn. Reckon he looks at the three medals he's won there, looks forward to his Champions League appearances this season and wishes he'd hung around to celebrate consecutive 11th place finishes?

Ross is a good player, and I think his career will at the very least stay at the same level if he moves, possibly take off massively. I don't know why he seemingly doesn't want to stay at Everton, but I for one will be very sad to see him go.

£15m is plain daft

I believe I'm right in saying that we would be entitled to a development fee if he left next summer and given the fact he has over 20 England caps and 150 Premier League appearances, you're probably talking £10m or so

We're not getting £50m, clearly, but we derive very little benefit for selling him for £15m, so either we meet in the middle somewhere or we may as well just keep him and take the £10m or so next summer

We signed Keane for £25m rising to £30m and he only had 12 months left on his deal. I would sell Barkley at this point for a similar figure.

He's just not as good as we all thought he'd be.

He's astonishingly inconsistent. Every time he had the ball in a promising situation, I'd expect him to make the wrong decision. A crap cross, a crap shot when another player was in acres of space, a through ball played behind the forward so he'd have to adjust his run. He's probably the most frustrating player I've seen in an Everton shirt.

Also, he's a bit of a minge when it comes to tackling. I'd probably put this down to previous injuries. He did show a bit more bite in the second half of last season though.

Ross has shown his lack of consistency at Everton, I can't see Mourinho, Conte or Pochettino allowing the luxury he gets at EFC. AT Everton he was a relatively big fish in a relatively small pond, he won't be that at any of the clubs purported to be interested in him.

Look at players that have left .....who has done well?

so far, Rooney, Fellaini and Lescott - pretty much everyone else's career has gone downwards. So the odds are in favour of the argument that he will fade to mediocrity elsewhere. Ross is a really good player, not sure he would even be in the current new first XI if he signed up. All managers want consistent 8-9 out of 10 performance, not the occasional 10 amidst a rack of 6s.

Some of the slating of him on here only started when people were aware of him potentially not signing.

If he signs a new deal plenty of people on here will soon change their opoinion of him.

me included.
