Ross Barkley

I've been told off for years on here for slating him. I'll be keeping my opinion.

I've been wracking my brain trying to remember who it was a couple of years ago who used to tell me off for slagging Ross off lol
Won't have been me mate because I wasn't on here a couple of years ago. But thanks for the heads up. I'll be keeping an eye on your anti Barkley posts in the future. I've made it my mission on GOT to protect our scouse diamond from all the haters.;)

Looks like I'll need to find another good cause shortly though.

Which is unsurprising.

I find this whole thing odd - not in terms of what Barkley is doing, but the fans.

Emre Can at Liverpool is also a 23 year old player entering the last year of his contract, where little news about contract discussions has been leaked to the press. Has there been an uproar about him, shouts of traitor/snake etc.? If he signs a new contract, would he face accusations of "oh, nobody else wanted him" or "nobody would pay him more than us"?

No, obviously not, because Barkley is bizarrely subject to completely different rules.
Everything the lad does or doesn't do attracts media attention for some reason. And not just the local media.

He can't misplace a pass without some football expert giving us his opinion. Always pissed me off big style.

always took a fraction of a second longer than everyone else to celebrate someone else scoring for us, annoyed the hell out of me! As for Ross he definitely cares about the team, maybe too much, tries too hard and overplays... I reckon he'd be a great part of the squad but definitely not the number 10 we've tried to make him...potential/young is no longer an excuse...unfortunately another team will benefit now and he will be a very good squad player over the season...but to stay here it would feel like a demotion to him probably

There's still more twists to this mate he's still our player and I hope it stays that way

Of course it's about that - it's why he hires an agent; to negotiate the best possible pay for his talents from a club and to advise him on a career path.

If it was financial he would have signed ages ago and be pocketing the extra money. He wants to leave. The first step is admitting it to yourself.

I said it's about negotiating better terms - I didn't say negotiating better terms solely at Everton.

That said, there's no evidence whatsoever that his agent isn't waiting until later in the window to see what the going rate for a top player at Everton is. If he signed a £100k contract now, he could see Sigurdsson on £150k and be thinking WTF.

As I've said repeatedly, he signed his last contract in late July 2014 with one year left on his contract - there's no reason to believe this summer can't see a similar outcome.

The stick Barkley gets is unwarranted. He hasn't said he wants to leave, an he hasn't handed in a transfer request. Nor has he cried to Kenright asking to go to Old Trafford.

TBF he and his agent would be absolute idiots to ask to leave or put transfer request in, when they've been told that he's gone if he didn't sign.

Why would he forgo all the bonuses that players get, when leaving a club having not officially asked to?
