Messi was not as explosive as he can be but he ran the show for Argentina. Always on the ball and always pushing things along. It all goes through him. He is being damned for not scoring one of his usual dribbling masterpieces at a big tournament. You can play very well without scoring you know?u

Player of the tournament? Don´t care. Same as World Player of the Year. It´s voted for. All opinion. Its enough to say he was easily one of the best players at that tournament.

At this point stating Messi doesn´t perform on the international stage is basically admitting you are just repeating what you have read somewhere. Sorry, but thats just how it is.

Hopefully Ross can show half of that ability at the Euros whilst losing all the games

Even more on topic I hope to see more of this risk taking on Saturday that the manager has said he needs to do. A packed defence by West Brom and it would be good to see Ross let fly a good few times.

Back to Barkley, with both Besic and Oviedo getting new deals, we need to get Barkley tied down as well.

He's got what, two years left on his current one come the summer?

Offer him a further two years to keep him here until 2020. Needs to be done.

At the chance of the game and skied it. Wasn't his best game other than the misses either, hesitated on the ball and killed our tempo when we had good runs made off the ball while he made body feints in front of the defender. Poor for me

Not quite as slick in the final 3rd as he has been but he never had a striker to show to link up with, shouldve done better with his last shot

If he's to become as good for us as what slippy was for liverpool he needs to put that ball in the back of the net. Too many times he wastes golden chances.

22 years old and unlucky not to have two today.

Was another experience for him seeing all those bodies behind the ball...not sure what he could have done other than blast a few more shots in but he was being closed down so quickly and Barry / McCarthy were too far back and not attacking players.

We need another central option to take off one of those two when we need to push forward.

More of a hindrance than a help today. Should have had a couple but his all round game was too slow for the majority of the time and needed to impact the pace of the game more, few times they actually pushed forward the ball ended up with him and he would get his foot on it and slow the pace back down again.

Saying that though atleast he put in some effort of making a difference, completely wrong line up for a home game today and made worse by bringing on kone and osman who are more likely to bring the pace from a jog to a slow walk than up the tempo to open gaps in the 10 man west brom defence.

Wouldn't say he dragged them. They have lots of quality players 33 goals in 77 games isn't bad granted. But the opposition is mainly Sh. It . He won the golden ball? I think he is world class and one of the top 5 of all time. Vasell used to play well for England and was cr@p IMO so saying gerrard wasn't world class because he played [Poor language removed] for England is wrong IMO. Scholes didn't do it for England and he was truely world class

Personally thought he was good apart from his finishing and even then that shot that caught the inside of the post was a beauty.

Switched play well to both sides, some nice flicks and found a way through their massed defence several times but couldn't find the net.

did ok , was constantly facing two banks of wba players in front of him,and we haven't a clue how to play against it, he just gets crowed out of it, becomes frustrated and it shows in his game.

He did switch the play well, his passing range has improved so much over the years. In 13/14 half those balls would have been bouncing off some four year old in row C

But his passing around the box still leaves a lot to be desired for me, I give him a bit of a lay off for the fact that west brom defended so well, but as the main source of creativity and tempo in the side he was too hesitant in possession and it killed our rhythm in the final third
