Just interested to know because even when he's having a bad game he seems to grab a goal or assist - a sign of a potentially world class player IMO.

He has an incredibly lazy mentality to his defending is the biggest reason. I blame martinez tbh. You can't be a luxury player and want to play that deep.

Frankly none will agree with me that I think he is better off playing in a front three with lukaku and deulofeu if we ever play that well. His biggest strength his dribbling and He simply doesn't show any signs of wanting to defend for his club only attack

There are reasons why fans won't fully appreciate barkley and I'm trying to explain why.

Didn't really watch much of Scholes tbh only got into footy around 2006 and still haven't watch a full game with him involved

And that's martinez's fault don't you think. If barkley stepped up say just 15 % of his energy when he is without the ball , much like he does for england a few times I would not be bothered and alot of fans would be happy he plays every game. The fact is barkley is never going to be dropped from the team for romantic reasons. that is stopping him from needing to work that much harder. it is damaging the team when everton r off the ball. Everton defend with 10 men when barkley plays for everton. Imo

Yeah I'm guessing you don't don't agree with me but don't you think barkley and lukaku could work bit harder off the ball? I get it if lukaku is injured or barkley is tired from number of games but watch a game from early season and tell me they are working hard enough when off the ball? I am not blaming the players, they being not being coached properly on pressing and have been overplaying games this season

Fairly certain towards the end of the Hammers game, they showed the distance ran stat where Ross was leading every other player in the game with 10k+ ran.

Fair enough 'barkley and lukaku are not fit enough for pl' that was stupid comment cos they are

there is no smoke without fire though, lukaku and barkley work there bollocks off when attacking but if there was a way of seperating that stat from attacking and defending it wouldn't be that obvious. Seen games where Barry out runs everyone while mccarthy seems to press much more

Again not blaming the players , down to management.

Barkley has a lot more defensive organization to his game than he used to.

He does but I think his pressing is very poor compared to the game plan. He seems to defend quite deep when the whole team is 'pressing' which it is debate be tbh. I think barkley would be a great replacement for the Barry type of player.he has suprised me a few times with his reading of the game.
