Didn't watch the game as I was dropping my gf home, so was listening to 909 in the car, and any time they went over to Goodison for anything good from us, it was Barkley that was providing it.

There was a simple ball on for Lukaku in the second half and Barkley ran into a cul-de-sac for no reason instead of releasing it.

On the radio, they made that sound like a storming run towards the box.

Played as the #10 until Galloway came off and Barry moved to left back. Was average until that point.
Then dropped into the #8 role and started coming into his own, scoring a cracker.

Play him deeper. Being killed to accomodate Barry.

We will see the best of Barkley as soon as Martinez brings in the new #10

I watched a different game then - he lost possession constantly, messed up five yard passes and dallied on the ball and was dispossessed or killed momentum time and time again.

And I'm usually a massive advocate of him on here. I guess what you see as "trying to make stuff happen" is my "disrupting the flow of play by screwing up over and over again" really.

This. Goal was outstanding but the rest of his 89 minutes was not very good.

Barkley was a solid 8 out of 10 today. Even before he scored in the first half he was the only one who created anything at all and brought out a decent save and then in the 2nd put in a great cross with his left foot that Rom should have scored on the back post. Shame he slightly over hit that pass to Mirallas after a good run otherwise we were in.

Don't forget tho....if Barkley miss places a pass or 2 that's means he stunk the place out and should be sold immediately!!

Not that anyone else ever Miss places passes in our team.

We have sooooo many very good players, not playing to their full potential for over 12 months now. One man shouldntakenthenblame for that

Whoscored gave him a 7.75 which I think is fair.

Capable of the best and of the worst today, obviously the goal, the cross for Lukaku and also that shot in the first half being the very good, and missing a few 5 yard passes and breaking up several attacks being the awful.

I don't think he is a number 10, and playing in central midfield could keep bringing the best out of him and reduce the amount of silly mistakes, by giving him more time to control the ball, space to run into etc.

It seems many people feel the same, and if we do get a playmaker in I would expect Martinez to at least try playing Barkley next to McCarthy, particularly against weaker sides at home.
